Topic: Follow up to my previous thread about Total Control... - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

I got my new Numark Total Control unit in today. The previous one was a faulty one.

Anyway...

This one works, woooooooooooo!

BUT!!!...

I can do anything with the controller that it's meant to do with Cue LE but the controller stops working at random times. When it happens, the LED lights stay lit on the controller but when I move a fader or press a button...nothing happens! When a fader moves or a button is pressed, the response on the screen from the program is nothing. Like I said, throughout this the LED lights are still on.

I disconnect the controller from the USB cable, close the program, and then restart the program and reconnect the controller. Everything looks to be back to normal as it works fine till the controller freezes again at a random time interval.

I used it for like 10 minutes then it froze, used it for 1 hour then it froze again, used it for 30 minutes and it froze again.

What now...help, please?

I get this all the time, but i dont have to close the program, all i do is go back in to the pref's deactivate the controller then re-activate it then works again. I am using 5.2, not sure if its the same in 6

hope that helped

Glad to here your getting there.
It could be worth your while checking out some of the posts which cover USB dropout and the like.

In the CUE LE program that comes with the controller, their is no option to do what you said.

Thanks.

Where could I find some of these post?

Could that be a sudden cut of communication between your hardware and your software. Faulty USB cable or loose connection somehow that happened in a very quick manner. Try changing the USB cable or maybe use a shorter one.

I'll try that out.

Could my computer not having enough memory be contributing also?

So I went get a new USB cable and it's still doing the same thing. So the USB cable provided with the unit is not the problem.

Ugh, what now...

Download this latency checker and let it run for a couple of minutes and check the bars stay in the green.

I had same problem but i have to disable my wireless on the laptop to keep the bars in the green

I ran that program. Most of the bars were green but their was a fair amount of yellow and red ones.

That could be your problem then.
Disable your wireless, modem and lan then run the lattency checker again they should be all green then.
Keep them 3 things disabled then go on virtual dj again and see if the problem is still there.

I would personally always disable from the internet when you are on virtual dj at gigs as it can sometimes cause problems and i think most people on here would aggree with me on that.

Let me know if you need anything else.

I don't think it's the problem. I say that because I have the problems with the Total Control when the wireless is disabled and when not online at all.

I could restart my computer, load up TC and CUE, use it for a while then TC will freeze. I then have to disconnect the USB cable from TC, restart CUE, and then reconnect the cable. Repeat the process...ugh!!!

That's all while my wireless is disabled and offline.

What is the specification of your laptop/computer.

Bought the laptop in 2007.

Model: HP Pavilion dv6500 Notebook
OS: Vista Home Premium (6.0, build 6000)
Hard drive: 140GB
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core TK-55, 1.8Ghz
Memory: 1GB Ram

I thinks that's the source of your problem, RAM, Vista alone requires a minimum of 1G RAM, i guess...pardon me if i'm wrong.

Having 1GB of ram will cause performance issues the base ram requirement for Vista is 1GB.

The truth is that you really need about 1.5 - 2GB of ram to run Vista well.

So the trouble is that the software is coming as a second priority to the OS.

I would recommend upgrading your ram to 2GB or greater if your system supports it.

I went to Best Buy earlier and bought some more RAM (memory) for my laptop. I bought 3GB of RAM. I'll test everything out and I'll re-post in a day or two.

Btw, thanks for y'all help guys! I'll keep y'all updated.

Well, it didn't take long for the same result to happen. I was messing around with it for about 10 minutes when TC stopped responding. Cue kept playing though like normal.

I really don't know what else to do.

Maybe a damn question...are you on Vista 64bit?
Have you tried testing your TC on XP os?

I'm using 32bit Vista.

And I haven't tried it on a XP system yet.
