Topic: Skin 5.x to 6.0 converter

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Has anyone thought of creating a tool the will simply convert a v5 skin to a v6 skin. I suspect the conversion would be pretty straight forward fo a tool to do, over going through your code line by line.

There are some new feature avaliable in the v6 skins format I would like to use, but cannot, as if i change the ver in the xml, the whole skin no longer works correctly, because it needs to be converted first.

Thanks to anyone thats wants to have a go at this.

Hi,

You can download the Skin Creator Tool:
http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/tools.html

Open a v4 or v5 skin.
And then in the Menu XML->Convert to v6

This is still a beta feature and needs corrections. But 80% of the skin will be correctly converted.

Will this work on Format's skins?

I am VERY attached to his Mixlab 3.1 skin.

This will work on all skins.
About the other 20%, I'm still working on it, but I don't have alot of time these last few days.

OK, 2 years later... Is Version 2.6 100% converting now?

Just tested. Still only 80%. Don't convert EQ crossfaders, nudge and seek buttons, CBG adjust, next effect slots, etc... But 80% is better than nothing. :-)
