...my thread, at least tell me where you put it or if it was deleted. It's the first time it's happened with me but I've read other people's comments about the same thing. There has got to be a better way. It would get better recognition in the "General Discussion" section. Plus, what the hell is the "General Discussion" board for? If that wasn't general enough I don't know what is. It was about music and VDJ right? What about the "RIP Ed McMahon" thread? And others like it that remain here.
I just don't get it. What did someone say about "cliques" on another thread? lol

Ok, thanks Terry. I didn't know what happened and it didn't show up in the search...

Maybe the forum should send a PM alert to the thread starter when a topic is moved - or have a link to the moved topic in the original forum.

I would think that General Discussion should be for all topics that don't fit into other parts of the forum. Just my opinion though!

agreed, this area is now flooded with posts quite clearly that should be in hardware/technical etc forums

Well this is a DJ software forum, DJ...
Yet any mention of music or video and it's off to the "music discussion" forum = thread graveyard
I understand the logic in this but it doesn't always work, removing interesting threads from the main forum just detracts interest from the community in general.

True, but if use of the sections was enforced, people interested in that would check there. Otherwise what's the point in having sections?

I think of this forum as the "general meeting room" - where you can explore any topic and mid conversation you have the right to change/go off the topic (yea just like in real life), so you could have a thread in here "what music do you play?" and that would be fine, but the music forum would be the best place to explore the topics with more depth, where you can post playlists, monthly charts, polls, your mixes etc.
The forum needs to be kept clean of junk, but the users experience can't become too uniformed or it will become dull, tedious, stale, tiresome, monotonous, old, dead, flat, routine, humdrum, insipid etc.

personally I really don't see the need for many of the catergories myself, all the good stuff seems to be in general.
Yes the hardware/software support ones maybe (but then it seems like 90% of the posts in the general section are really support questions anyway. I can also see the need for the more "techie" forums like the "skins" and "plug-ins" and there is obviously a need for the non English forums since this is such a world wide program, and a forum for the turntablists would be nice and the music one for those interested in that (although I have never been there so don't really know what is discussed "music" seems pretty general to me in a DJ FORUM!.....okay keep all the forums, but when you move a posting just leave the post headings in the original forums and just put a link in them pointing to where you moved them...seems simple to me.

In the "Experienced Members" forum I put up a thread asking for a "Karaoke/Video" or "KJ/VJ" forum that I would like to moderate. The whole reason for this thread to begin with was to help promote my "Karaoke Madness" music group. The reason I started such a group was to support and work with other KJs and VJs but then I though that doing it there just wouldn't get the traffic but it also just isn't the right format to try to offer tech support to this particular segment. A new forum to support this group is needed more than ever. I see questions about karaoke and video all over the forums, "Hardware", "PC", "Mac" and here on the "Gen Disc" forum. I try to help everyone I can but it's hard to keep track of all of these queries when they are spread everywhere.
So who else would like to see a "Karaoke/Video" Forum?
All in favor say "aye"!

i can't see the current format in general forums been changed at least not by some of the replys that i have seen from the teamers elsewhere concerning this, even though i think it has been to the detriment to the whole feeling of the site and looking at the replys here so do many others with others just not visiting here or very rarely now, but that is my own feelings on this subject so i don't think i need to be flamed for that....
anyway hope you get your wish rude, be a nice subject to follow.

That's another problem in my not so humble opinion. There are three star people who offer tons of help and for what ever reason can't seem to obtain the 4th star. Those folks can't participate in the "Experienced Members" section.
Unlike the VDJ software the forum seems to have a little "politics" running in the background. You can bet your refurbished Rubix Cube I will never see another star no matter how much or how long I participate here. (I made the wrong people mad at me.... :^)
