Topic: Upgrading my hard drive caused popping on sound

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I've been running a Maya44 USB sound card with the ASIO driver and the buffer size set to Rapid. My HDD was a 40GB IDE, which was obviously not big enough.
So I upgraded to a 500GB SATA drive, installed all the software and set all the settings as they were before.
Now, I get a regular popping on the sound. It seems worse when I move the mouse. I can get rid of it by opening up the buffer size in the ASIO driver control panel, except when I'm looping, but it worries me that something that worked fine before has started causing trouble.
