Did ask this question before but no official answer from the team.
Karaoke zipped files played fine in 5.2 and previous but when I did upgrade to 6.0.1 Half the files would not play. Tried 6.01 on several Laptops with the same problem. Reverted back to 5.2 and all play fine. I know with 6.0.1 its down to the compression being recognised as I rezipped a couple of the files with winwar and they then worked with 6.0.1. Please advise if this is going to be the norm for 6.01 or can this be revised by way of an update fix.

Yes, theres really something wrong about the ZIP encoder.
- When theres a WMA audio file inside the zipped folder, VirtualDJ dont recognizes the ZIP folder.
- When the folder has a great number of ZIP subfolders (for example, 2000 ones), VirtualDJ dont recognizes all ZIP subfolders (example, from 2000 it adds only 600 to database). To minimize it, you can create A to Z folders and spread the zip subfolders onto them.
- Thers no video when playing a MP3+CDG zipped folder.
Everything works fine if the files are unzipped.

99% of my karaoke IS already unzipped.
when harddrives are so cheep as they are right now, space isnt an issue, and zipping them all is a pointless task.
also, if you have VLC player for playing your media files, and your CDG files are unzipped, it will play them. handy for managing your files.

Had no problems before and now that I have reverted back to 5.2 all the files which won't play under 6.0.1 play fine with 5.2 hence the question why has the recognition been changed.
Has for the question of zipping or not. All my karaoke library is zipped and the inconvenience of having to set another task because software has been changed should'nt have to be so. My original library was built up around VDJ because of what it could do however 6.0.1 has to now have bugs fixed before I will be convinced and confident in using it on my gig rig again, been down this route to many times before unfortunatley. Its ok to claim it can do this that and the other but when your a versatile DJ covering different aspects of entertainment you need a programme which is reliable. Since reverting to 5.2 the last two 4 hour gigs went with out issue and still reading folks post about their problems and not being acknowledged by the team seems a little De ja vu. Shouldn't have to beta test something which supposed to had been tested and personally can't see how anyone can disagree with that.

I stopped using zipped karaoke when the karaoke plugin came out because it didn't properly display the song information onscreen.

im all unzipped, because VDJ didnt like certain types of zip files in the past..
and as i point out, harddrive is cheep, there is no need to have 100,000s if cdg files zipped to save space??
but maybe someone from Atomix dev team can look into why the zip files work differently now. what have they changed and why?

I agree. If someone is used to using zips all along and then they can't anymore, it can become annoying rather quickly.

Could you post your hardware config and SysOp?

i've got 38000 zipped karaoke tracks in mp3+g format and out of that only 5 do not work the problem is the type of zip compression used to zip the files, the tip i'll give everyone is to use a programme called mp3+g toolz to zip your files when done with this programme they work as it only uses basic zip characteristics which i find vdj prefers

If you want to unzip all your karaoke files there is a plugin for winzip 12 that can unzip multiple files in one go that will save you a hell of a lot of time.

I decided unzip all tracks. It will take some time to reorganize my files, but I think better do it than re-zip all files with another soft or wait for a new version to fix it.
Thanks everybody.
Thanks everybody.

We were working to resolve the issue with the zipped files that were not working in previous version. Are you saying this caused something else to happen? We will continue to work on resolving the issue when it comes to zipped files not all being recognized.

Hi thanks for your help . All the files were zipped were zipped with mp3 +g toolz , it is thousands of these which won't play in 6.0.1 only 5.2. All my files are being unzipped as I write. However the upgrade won't happen due to the other bugs with it. I will wait for a while before installing on my gig rig.

Thanks for the info Homeboy much appreciated. The other issues were many much of the music was missing from the data base also choppy sound and freezing on deck 1 also noise from my speakers as if som one was blowing into a mic. None of these problems with 5.2.
