Topic: looking for a new mixer

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I currently use a behringer vmx1000 mixer and it has been very good to me. However, after 5 years its finally starting to have some problems. (its really had a workout, outdoor venues and lots of travelling time to name a few) I am looking to get a new mixer and am looking at other options or the same, while trying to keep costs to a minimum. Looking for suggestions on mixers that others have had good experiences with. I went with the vmx1000 because I do use on a regular basis 4 channels, sometimes a fifth. 2 for VDJ, 2 for cd's and the 5th for occasional lp. I know some have had so so luck with the vmx1000, but like I said, mine has been a gem. I had a stanton early on with lots o troubles, but it was from a club that was closing - no surprise that there would be used issues there. Any suggestions would be quite welcome. What have you had good luck with?

haha the vmx1000... i started out with that too, i was 12 when i bought it :)

im now 17 and downsized to a 2 linemixer... i scratch, etc but if you need 5 lines, i suggest either pioneer, korg, ecler, etc

whats your budget?

all of those can run over 1000$, but they have midi mapping, etc so much more than the VMX

I have used the same Pioneer DJM500 for countless gigs over the past 10 years with no problems at all. Think they're discontinued now though!

Numark 5000 has 5 channels and its a battle mixer. The FX arent that great and you cant run outside effect boxes into it but its a decent mixer.

I have a few mixers but my favorite is the Pioneer DJM-800. The effects are awesome and so are the "Sound Color FX". It is MIDI capable so it can be controlled by VDJ, Ableton and other software. It is a bit pricey but if you shop around it can be had at a decent price. The Allen and Heath Xone 92 is also one of my favs, plenty of FX, features and also very expensive.

I've heard some good things about the Numark 5000FX mixer. I mean, for the price you get a lot of features and it's pretty well made.
