Your rig might have some issues here: 1. I think the min requirement for V5 is a 2.0 ghz proc., 512 mb RAM, the minimum. Since your rig has a below minimum reeq for proc speed, you need to boost up the RAM. The on board graphics chip shares the RAM with the system. The graphics chip may use up to 80 mb of RAM. You need additional head room for the system RAM. Try boosting it up to 4G, Win XP only uses about 3 G and the extra 1 G can be allocated for the graphics chip(no on board RAM). Also turn off any wireless LAN or on board LAN to free up resources. Turn off any antivirus program while running VDJ and do not connect to the internet. Set the system performance to always on or desktop. Lastly you may want to upgrade to a better HD, toshiba uses a slow 5400RPM HD and there was a recall on those before. I found out that getting an aftermarket HD(seagate 7200 RPM 300G) improved the performance exponentially.

damyz, my toshiba has a gig stick and a 256 mb stick of memory for 1.256 gigs of memory. the video card i think takes up 128 so i have over a gig of memory free. my laptop is stripped clean and i dont use this setup for anything besides djing. I do think my processor is a little under powered. After your note i borrowed a friends gateway FX laptop. has 4 gigs of memory 1.8 dual core processor and tested it. I have to say it does seem to work alot better but I still get the drifting but not as bad.
I will see about testing with new stylus if i can. i seem to think this is more of an issue than the processor but do think it plays a part. the reason i think its the stylus is one of my carts does better as far as displaying a signal. the one with a better signal seems to not drift as bad. I never stay at 100%. most the time it reads 0 or jumps in between. it should be at 100% when just the signal is playing with mo jumps at all correct?

I have tried it with the clear sound unchecked as well. What do you mean "Check the software preamp"? where is that? Also is the cue sticking right there normal? who uses TCV for scratching and beat juggling with no issues?
the Riaa software preamp is a box to check in the settings. I have it checked and get 100% not sure why I have it checked anymore but I scratch and beatjuggle with no issues.

I have tried all types of settings even checking the RIAA but my signal is never constant.
Found this article about cartridges:
http://www.djtechtools.com/2006/10/15/how-to-pick-a-dj-needle-for-serato/
now it does say how to pick them out for serato but it applies to any software that uses TCV. Thought maybe helpful to others.
My current cartridges are Shure SC35C which output is 5.0 mV but the site recomends cartridges with 8-11 mV so I am thinking this is why I dont get a good signal. The Shure M44-7 ouput is 9.5 mV which is almost double that of my current cartridge. I have one on order and should be here friday for me to test this weekend. This will be my last chance as demo will expire but I think it will work out. I will keep you posted on the result.
Thanks for all the help.

Good luck. I use the M44-7's now. Although it did work well for me with Stanton 500 AL's too. Don't recall what the output was. Most will tell you the higher output the better, it just makes sense. You could have stylus issues with the carts you have too. We'll find out after you get the new ones.

DJEJ the RIAA helped and my shure sc35c picked up. I did get in the m44-7 which i needed and still the same issue with sticker drift. the sticker drift isnt from the signal its just the mode I was in. When I switched to absolute mode there was no issues but I lose out on some features which is disappointing. My trial ran out so i will be purchasing the software next payday. I am curious will Virtual DJ impliment something similar to Serato that corrects the sticker drift when in Relative Mode. I know now all systems have this sticker drift in Relative mode but Serato has figured out a way to correct it. Any chance of this maybe being a future update?
