Topic: headphones not working on new system

hi all, i recently bought myself a new system. vdj runs like a dream bu i got no sound coming trough my headphones. im using the latest version of vdj dj console in combination with the hercules dj console. no mather wich setup i try there is no sound from the headphones. in vdj the option for using headphones is checked and my jacks are as followed: speakers in the green jack & headphones in the black jack. can somebody tell me what i'm doing wrong cause its driving me crazy. my specs:

Quad core Q6600 2.4hz
4x1gig 1066 hz DDR2 OCZ
Geforce 8800 series GTX 728mb
Xilence 600 watt power suply
Asus P5K E -Wifi Ap
2x 500gig 32mb S-ata
Vista ultimate 64 bit

(i'm using the build in soundcard soundmax that comes with the asus P5K)
