Topic: Crackling Sounds When Moving EQs, Crossfader etc.

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Yo.
So i'm new to DJing, started maybe a week ago, bought a pretty cheap mixer (m-audio x session pro) and i've just noticed (i dunno if its always been there and i just didnt notice or what...) that whenever i move the crossfader, pitch, eq etc (basically any of the controls on the mixer) i get a kind of low crackling sound as its moving. Its not my speakers because i tried it out the laptop, my speakers and through headphones.

So either its the mixer or the software, or maybe its just normal and im new so dont realise.
So hopefully someone can clear this up for me, my main concern though is this question: I dont wanna splash out for a better mixer just yet, but if i record a mix will these crackling sounds be audible in the mix? Cos that would really ruin it...

Thanks.

EDIT: Alright, I used the search function... ive unchecked Safe Mode & Overclock - what will the effect of this be? I dont get the crackling anymore, even with the slider turned up to the maximum quality.

You shouldn't really notice any effects, having them to option unchecked ( I have them unchecked).

There was a thread about the 2 options a few weeks ago, and describing what they did, may be do another search and see if you can find it.

But I wouldn't worry about it mate :)
