5 THINGS TO DO FOR EARTH DAY.

1 - stage a big protest that all your eco-friendly buddies can go to so they can feel good about themselves cause they care for the environment.
but we won't mention that it took burning so many thousands of gallons of gasoline for them all to get there, or all the water wasted, or all the litter and waste generated by any large crowd, or all the extra forms of pollution that are created by the side effects of any large gathering of human beings - gonna have any security at this event to protect them from the human predators that are going to see this crowd and think it's easy pickings? then you have to have police to protect them - they CAN NOT turn their vehicles off - they have to have power to keep the computers on in their cars, and to keep their radios on. i could go on, but you get the idea. i hope.

2 - buy something "green".
and if you're dumb enough to think that having "green" on a label created by advertising departments is reason to buy ANYTHING then i just plain feel sorry for you and our future.

3 - talk about how much we need to go "back to nature"
that means no cellphones, no tv, no cars, no hospitals, no airplanes, no computers (AND THERE IS A COMPUTER IN DAMN NEAR EVERYTHING THESE DAYS) no electricity, maybe you like living in a mud hut next to a river, but i think i'll pass.

4 - become a vegetarian.
we have pointy teeth for a reason. we are omnivores. we can eat what we like. BUT - that's not enough.. oh no, one of the top greenhouse gasses contributing to every eco-freaks pet peeve, the dreaded 'global warming" is the same gas put out by cows and other vegetarians - methane. that's right kids - cow farts are contributing to global warming! don't believe me? go look up how many metric tons of methane a large herd of cattle puts out in a single year. so go ahead, be a vegetarian - your farts can help push the earth's environment over the edge faster than if it was just the oil companies.

5 - recycle something.
sure. recycling is good at re-claiming some materials - but would you like to know how much waste is generated by the plants that handle the recycling? how much MORE industrial chemicals are pumped into the environment? how many millions of gallons of fossil fuels are burned to get the materials to the plants and then how much more pollution is generated to make the electricity the plant is going to need to process it all? the law of diminishing returns ain't gonna go away no matter how hard you try to ignore it - recycling if finite in the end. a minor stop-gap method.

sorry, but i got tired of seeing these people on tv (some of them supposedly educated!) get on their soapbox so they could get some publicity on earth day.
i am far from perfect when it comes to caring for the environment, but i do what i can, if i can.

4 - Would it not be a better idea to eat more Cows, then this will help reduce the amount of methane a heard puts out (esp if there are one or two less)??

5- I recycled part of your post :)

"we are omnivores," speak for yourself do what you want in private, i just like eating meat...

sorry, just let go some more green house gases

so are we saving the envrionment by keeping documents digital or not becasue we are using electricity to use the computers?????

what is better in the end ? the trees are either getting used for paper or fuel.

Obviously some people don't have their facts straight and should keep opinions to themselves.

To celebrate Earth Day I am going to use my two-cycle chain saw to cut down some trees.....

There are a couple of things I'd like to see done.

1) Each building over 10 stories should have it's own electrical generation technology built into the building. Either several Wind turbines on the sides of the building Or a Focused heat Sterling Engine Generator or the roof.

Benefit - Self powered buildings (partially) Less drain on existing grid

2) As many as possible large Buildings should be retro-fitted with Geo-thermal heating. Failing the collective will to retro fit - then new projects must be heated this way as the old buildings get demolished.

3) Stop expanding into Wilderness for grazing/farmland. We could produce the same amount of food - or more, by building an industrial sized hydroponics building. Several layers of hydroponicly grown food that is not subject to flooding, food diseases or even seasonal changes. Or this scenario could be used to grow ethanol grade corn instead of existing farmland.

I like the modern lifestyle that western society has built over the past century. The existing technology is here we would be well to use it.

turn ur things off..put every aluminum kan in your bag..and uhh i dunno do something green..sh!t..

I was thinking the same thing I'm tired of the birds crapping on my full size suv.

i keep all my litter in a litter bag , and when it gets full , you just throw it out the window

don't get me wrong kids, i actually am all for saving the planet. what burns my ass is the hypocrits who jump on the bandwagon because a "celebrity" said something on tv. and in this line of work you meet a few and realize that some of them couldnt find their ass with out their gps system. they make a bag of bricks look smart.
when i'm able to and weather and work permitting (and sometimes not) i am outdoors, usually fishing if i can get to the lake - and most hunters and fishers are more ecologically minded than the average bandwagon eco-nut. we like a clean environment so we can continue our past-times. and there is a simple rule - you kill it, you eat it. no one wants to eat a fish or other animal that has enough lead in its system that you can write with it or enough mercury that you could use it for a thermometer.

fact vs opinion

fact - the US government did perform a study that showed how much methane a herd of cattle produce in a given time and area. and it wasnt the only study done - look it up.

fact - ever been to the aftermath of a large protest gathering or march?... you would have thought a landfill got air-dropped on the area

fact - no matter how many times you recycle something there will always be less of it put out than taken in - there are always losses, you just can not get around that.

fact - living in the dark ages sucks - i want my techno-toys! ESPECIALLY VIRTUAL DJ!!!

Introducing VDJ VERSION 6.0 (Green)

ya know... she\'s not wrong when you think about it.

a hard drive holds as much music as you can cram into it, that means we don\'t have plastic (or vinyl for you purists. either way its made from oil) being used to make these big round spinning things (excepting timecodes of course, but 2 vs however many hundreds of records? lesser of two evils) that we don\'t have to have made.

and why is it always dolphins or whales?... what about the ugly animals?

do we need to get the environmentalists drunk like our customers so that they will have beer goggles for ugly endangered animals?

i don't know about you but i would need a few to think this critter was cute enough to protest for!

Gee Wild, takin' this one kinda personal aren't you?.... lol

Have You Been Brainwashed by the "Global Warming" propaganistas?-The True or False Game.

Read the following statements and answer true or false:

1. The average mean temperature of the Earth has fallen by 1.6 degrees fahrenheit since 1998. True or False

2. The polar ice cap grew by approximately 13% or an area the size of Texas in the past year. True or False

3. Last summer in Alaska was one of the coldest ever on record. True or False

4. It snowed in Morocco recently. True or False

5. It snowed almost 5cm recently in Saudi Arabia True or False

6. They don't even have a word for snow in Arabic nations True or False

If you answered True to all or these statements, then you have not been brainwashed by Al Gore and his merry band of Global Warming propaganistas.

Beware of the media and people who use the term "decided science".

Please keep cutting back CO2 emissions as they are not good for the planet, but they are not causing the planet to "boil over" as Al Gore would like you to believe. Besides all the trees and vegetation would die without it!

Stay Informed, not Out of Touch!

Don't get me wrong I'm all for using our resources in responsible way. Its quite funny people like Gore say the sky is falling then
you have stuff like this.

Quote :

Gore, America's foremost environmental crusader, consumes approximately 20 times more electricity every year at his Nashville mansion than the average American homeowner.

Anyway decided to park the SUV in a different spot and keep the tree for the time being.
