Topic: Help with Hurcules RMX

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey one and all,

so I bought the Hurcules RMX yesterday and plug it in and installed the software very easily.......when I started playing I had the settings on;

Input: None
Output: Headphones and Speaker
Last one cant rememeber name: Hurcules Controller I think

I only had it plugged into a hifi using just output 1-2 RCA conncector into aux on my hifi.......

I had my headphones plugged in to moniter and that worked...Its just when i tried to mix the sound and moved the cross fader over i nioticed the sound didnt blend togther it sort -of just replaced the sound from deck one to two..like overlapping....have I set this up wrong...or is it faulty or what.....

basically how do I set it up so I can dj at home just into a hifi and how will I set it up when I DJ out and about where it will have a PA system?

Also i noticed it the sound was skipping a bit? has anyone heard of this? I have an ACER 5050 think its got a 1.6 processor and I have 4gb of RAM.......

Hope anyone can help me set it up......

Thanks

Love

Michael

Hi there Michael

If you are using the trail please have a look at this I did for the wiki last year.

http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Hercules%20RMX%20Setup.html

These are the setting I use. They may be helpful to you with your skipping problems as well. If not go into Device manager and turn of your Wifi adaptor, this device can cause sound problems.

Regarding your crossfader issue, go into VirtualDJ config>Options. You will see a option for your crossfader set to smooth or full (thats if it not set to either)

When I do my bar gig with my RMX all I do is plug mine in a spare channel of there amp/PA systen using RCA output 1&2 (like what I do at home) Some PA systems you may have to use the larger 1/4" outputs, so make sure you have both sets of cables with you :)

Finally, if you go the the "Modify my profile" tab and enter the serial found on the CD sleeve of your VirtaulDJ/driver disc you will become a limited user and will be able to download some of the goodies from the site.

hi michael, your gonna need to register the rmx with vdj, d/load the hercules package from here then go to hercules site and download the current drivers from there... then get back on here, someone or myself will be able to help from there onwards, you could also take a look on the hardware forum, one or two threads on setting up the rmx, hope that helps.

edit, i've got a slow trigger finger today jimmy... lol

Thanks for your responses....

i did have wifi on so it could be that.....

so what should I have the crossfader set to?

regarding your link jimmy when i unticked the box apply eq the headphones did not work?

So do i simply foll,ow the settings you put on the link....

I will register the rmx tonight..will that stop all my problems?

Are you sure? that box should say "apply Eq on external sources"

Anyway by checking that box or unchecking it will either force the RMX to run in WDM mode (standard window drivers) or ASIO mode (Low latency drivers)

Unchecked=WMD mode
Checked=ASIO mode

It's down to you what mode you want to use your RMX on but if you follow my settings you will be using WDM mode.

Also as Tayla has said download and install the latest drivers for the RMX.

(second in the list of 3)

nice one will be back with more issues tonight probs as trying to use this for the first time....

thanks for your help

remember to register it for the updated files....

hi, is anyone else having problems with the hurcules 4Mx, half way through the night the jog wheel stops working as it should and starts controling the playlist area, so then i cant use it to line up the beats unless i restart the computer. Any Ideas ?? thanks

Have you modified the custom mapper ?
Try to reset to factory settings by clicking on the bottom left button on Config->Mappers Tab (you need to select Hercules from the drop down list dirst)

At any case you can assign a keyboard shortcut as
wheel_mode "jog"
and use that button to set your jogwheel to jog mode , in case something similar happens again.

i thanks for the responce, but yeah i thought i had already done all that but yeah ill try it again to be sure. thanks again.
