Of course you can.
By a MIDI mixer you can handle any sound effect, VST pluging and video effect.

im only using the mixer as midi and doing the rest by mouse.how do i hook it up?midi from mixer to computer then out put from computer to sound card back into the mixer out to the speakers?

For you mixer, you need to hook the mixer up to your computer by a "MIDI/USB converter" between the USB port of your computer and the MIDI OUT port of your mixer: it allows you to use MIDI controls.

Talking about sound, you need to hook a sound card up at your computer; this sound card must be at least 4 channels output (2 stereo channels) and you connect the 2 stereo channels at 2 channels of your mixer.

You can also hook 2 CDJ or 2 turntables up at your mixer for using Timecode.
