Topic: want to route audio to software eq

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello.....I have the Hercules RMX Console.....My Virtual DJ Sound Setup is as follows:
Inputs: None
Outputs: Headphones
SoundCard: ASIO Driver (ASIO4ALL)
(Master Out= 1/2 ; Headphones= 3/4)

USB Cable is connect between the Laptop and the RMX Console
I have an RCA out from the RMX 1/2 channel to 3.5mm LINE INPUT on my laptop
Headphones are plugged into the headphone jack on the RMX Console
And then I have my 3.5mm Speaker out on my laptop to RCA as my MASTER OUT to speakers or amp

ASIO4ALL is configured correctly and EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT WITH NO ERRORS OR PROBLEMS

HOWEVER, the reason I have the audio routed this way is for TWO REASONS:
One, to broadcast live on Internet Radio
and Two, Because I want to route the LINE INPUT into a software Equalizer and then out to the laptops soundcard OUT to speakers

I have tried routing the audio into several applications, several different ways like Ableton LIVE 7...either I get ZERO audio all together, or I get audio from RMX to LINEIN Passed through to LapTop OUT with NO Change in the sound from the Software EQ ...or like when I use Ableton I can get both audio sources (The line-in source from RMX to Laptop plus the audio I routed into Ableton from the line-in...and then when in goes to soundcard out to speakers I get a delay....Ableton sound is a bit slower, but running at the same time...like I have TWO line-in sources playing the same song, but one has a delay)

My Question: How can I ROUTE my laptops AUDIO LINE-IN to a software EQ and manipulate the sound before it goes to the SOUNDCARD OUT and then to SPEAKERS????

hi.

If you want to broadcast to internet, then you shouldnt need an equaliser.

in a PA system, you should put your equaliser as the last connection before the amplifier.

as for the same laptop doing the processing for eq...
are you absolutely sure you are connected to LINE IN on a laptop? most laptops ive encountered usualy ony have MICROPHONE in and HEADPHONE / LINE OUT.
