Topic: NVidia driver install

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm trying to install the latest driver update from Dell for my NVidia card, but it won't take. I've tried all the ways I know of. Safe mode, self install setup, and through the hardware wizard. Running Windows XP. Any ideas on how to get it to stick? Thanks for any input.

Hi Tayla, tried that before and it worked. Didn't fix video from freezing though. Thought I'd try Dell latest driver to see if that fixed the video freezes.

I had a similar problem with Nvidia cards... Tried numerous Nvidia cards and drivers but I also had video freeze problems.

The resolution for me was to change the graphics card for a Radion/ATI type which has worked for me.

I will not go back to using an Nvidia product.

Hope this helps.

yep m8 that the one... the picture seem to look beter with the new drivers.
BUT if you have your output to S-video there is a little problem.. when you start the laptop up the output stays blank till you go into the nvidia opions & change the screen res on the output ... you can change it back again ....

the picture seem to look beter with the new drivers... also had no freeze @ all ...
