Sorry for all the questions

I think I know what a mapper is but can someone explain to clarify.

I do not have one for my mk2 is it recommended?

For native supported controllers such as the Hercules DJ Console MK2, a mapper simply changes the functions of the controller to provide alternative/additional functionality. If you are happy with the default support, there's no need to use a mapper.
