is there a way to sync the volume...i know that not all songs are recorded at the same volume but is there a feature that will sync the volume pretty close

an alternative software solution is winamp... its an audio player w/ many useful plugins. I'm pretty sure a standard plugin is for automatic music normalization which is what you're after.
in VDJ look in config-->options and turn on auto gain. it matches the volume. be sure towatch your levels.

vdj had that feature before up until 5.06 (i think), i like to see it come back but for now i use Mp3 Gain to at least normalize the volumes.
i have mine set @ 94db, so no distortion on mp3's.
