Well gang I've heard nothing but good things about this controller from those who already own one.
I have my hands on one for the weekend for a test drive & am going to put it through it's paces over 4 gigs. Going to run it solo with VDJ, through my X500 mixer to see how it works with video, & also with my BN4500 Dual decks.
If all goes according to what others have been saying about this controller, I'm hoping it will be a keeper & can replace my DN-HD2500 as my controller, permanently sliding gracefully into my DJ rig.
Will keep you posted. Fingers & toes crossed!
No glitches, No glitches, No glitches-lol

Like everything else it depends on various factors, but apart from losing one channel during a gig it's been perfect. Good luck Robin!

Please check and ensure that it has the latest v1005 firmware installed - The original firmware first shipped with the HC4500 had a bug in its MIDI implementation that causes the software to freeze. To update, please visit: http://www.denondj.com/firmware.aspx?ProductId=81

Now you tell me-lol
Exhibit A: Thursday Night gig.
Ran the unit with internal full audio & vid mixer thru the clubs mixer. I'm actually so used to monitoring through the headphones and adjusting pitch with my left hand while crossfading using the mouse with the right (duh)
Performed flawlessly almost all night...but it did freeze up once. It was a good time (is there such a thing?) as I had a CD on the ready & worked out fine-no-one even noticed.
Closed VDJ real quick, reopened & was off and running for the rest of the night.
SIDEBAR 1:
Also have a nasty something and have no voice & feel like S%*T! Sorry that evidence is inadmissible & shall be struck from the record. You have a job to do-suck it up & self-medicate!
Upon re-entering the world after a much needed rest I will proceed with firmware update as recommended by the wise colleaugue.
**************************************************************
Friday's Trial will involve using the 4500 with my x500 mixer & 4500 CD Decks & actually try crossfading using the Denon Mixer. Will probably be ackward at first, so used to the mouse way now.
SIDEBAR 2:
Does anyone else find the Denon sliders/faders very loose. It is an awesome mixer, but just breathing on the faders can make them move.
****************************************************************
Are there any special recommended settings I should be using with this unit? I had latencey set to fastest, overclock OFF, Safe mode OFF
Thanks in advance.

The pitch sliders are rock solid on mine and are more tight than other controllers I have used.

In VirtualDJ's Performances tab, you should have:
- Latency: Auto (Latency for the HC4500 must be set via the ASIO control panel)
- Safe mode: Off
- Overclock: Off
In Sound Setup -> ASIO button, you should choose the lowest latency value you can get without experiencing problems such as stuttering and sound break-up (You will need to restart VirtualDJ between each change for it to take effect.) I use 1ms latency with no problems on a 2Ghz single core laptop.

According to the unit, it is up to date with Version 1005, being the latest firmware update, so maybe I just have to mess with the latency setting now to avoid freeze's.
As for faders- I was speaking of the x500 mixer not the 4500. The unit is solid. So far so good.
I adjusted the latency to 1ms and have the ultra latency asio box checked. should it be?

I thought you were referring to the HC4500's pitch sliders. I don't have any direct experience of the X500 mixer (I use Pioneer DJM-3000)
Don't tick ultra latency - It will cause problems (Another user had problems with this enabled.)

You need to press and hold the MEMO button (-preset) on your HC4500, and select option # 9 to enable X-fader control.
