Familiar vendors missing...VDJ, PCDJ, Serato, Tracktor (No dj software companies at all!), Numark, Gemini (actually they were there but only had 2 model cd players with them), Vestax, M-Audio, Behringer, Mackie, JBL, Yamaha, Peavey, Crown, QSC, Chavet, Elation, Screenplay, RockAmerica, Ultimix, Hercules....need I go on. The only "major" vendors were Pioneer, American Dj, Odessy Cases, Promo Only and Denon.
There was a dj equipment retailer (I think the name was "Six Star Dj") that was demoing (to the best of their ability because they really didn't know anything about their products except if you moved the jog wheel back and forth you could make scratching noises) the hercules rmx and black, one numark cd player and one numark contoller. When I asked if I could try it out the rmx they said "We only have the one unit for demo and there are too many people here so it would'nt be fair to let you up here and not them"! When I asked two specific questions 1) if all the buttons were midi mappable or just some of them his response was "I'm not sure, I only use it with the software it comes with and it's already mapped" and 2) Have they fixed the static elctricity problem yet his response was "I never heard of that, you'll have to call the manufacture"!........what bullsh*t, put somebody up there that knows a bit about the product.....isn't that the point of being there!
Gas Round Trip $50, 10 Hours Driving Time Round Trip-Wasted, Hotel $40 Hotel, Show Admission for 25 mintues to see the entire thing $40, NOT putting it on my Visa to get my money back VERY STUPID!

To be honest, a lot of trade shows are cancelling all together. The beauty show I was going to in AC has been cancelled. It is tough out there. Nobody has any money to spend.

The big shows will carry on, like NAMM..
Mobile Beat never really was any good in my opinion, so I can see why lots cancel their presense there, specially if the current financial crizis and so on..

VDJ did mobile beat a few years back, we haven't been back since. All vegas shows are harder to do more expensive and least amount of turn out per dollar spent. Its not a surprise other vendors are pulling out as well. Namm isn't really a dj show per say it more of a new products showcase the dj section is quite small compared to the rest of the floor.
