I am looking to convert over to VDJ. I am wanting to use the Denon DN-HC4500 controller. Does the controller have a way to use the video crossfader on the software? Also do I need to use the timecoded cd with VDJ? I am just not sure what all the features I will get using the Denon, Denon homepage was very Vague How it will work.

You don't need timecode with the HC4500.
You can control almost any feature of VDJ, including the video crossfader. A better solution would be to use the HC4500 with a MIDI mixer, or a Denon X-Control mixer which will allow you to use an audio crossfader synced with the VDJ video crossfader.

The 4500 is amazing with VDJ. There is a custom mapper written by JP Boggis that allows a level of control never seen before. You can only get the mapper as a licensed user, but take it from me that is is a simply superb combination. Add the Vmix 5.4 skin and you're all set. Superb!

If I already have a mixer can I just use a midi mixer for the video fader and not use it for the audio?

Here's the Vmix 5.4 skin in one of the video modes. It's excellent for music and video and is fully cusomisable.

It depends. Do you want a seperate video crossfader or do you want the two linked? If you don't want the two linked, then you can just use a button combo on the HC4500 to video crossfade and don't need to worry about the mixer.
