Maybe a driver error, maybe something internal. When you turn the computer on and after the bios screen has passed (it will either be a logo or a information page for a second or two) press the F8 key repeatedly. Then the Windows screen will allow you to boot into Safe Mode, does that work?

If you still get the bluescreen, the next time you get to the F8 screen make sure to turn off Automatic Restart. Then the next time you get a bluescreen, you can make a note of the error properly.

thanks buddy i will try this becuase what u said is exactly what is happening...

how do i turn off the auto restart??

You may also have to reinstall the OS. I just had this happen this week, I know it sux but what u should do is what Andrews said and change that in the bios so u can see the error.

What I would do first is make sure you reseat your ram and graphics card if this is a desktop, and try a reboot.

i have had that happen and went threw alot of backing up and reformating....just to have it happen again. the problem was a bad memory chip. if you have more than one try rmoving them one at a time

Good Idea!!! And run Memtest.

Also you can try underclocking your memory if you have more than 3gb and are running Vista 32 bit.
I have 4 Gb and am running Vista 32 bit and was getting BSODs and with the help of Cyder we underclocked from 800mhz to 667 and the BSODs stopped.

ok thanks for the ideas guys...really apreciated!!! i dunno this laptop i got might just go the junkyard....its been giving me too many problems...ive invested to much money in it enough to get me another one..and its SLOW!!! so im guessing im ganna buy another 1...

ok guys i still cant find the part where it takes off auto restart...were do i go to??

Sounds like you might have picked up a computer virus..if by chance you haven't re-installed the "OS" via CD Dell computers have the "Dell Restore" feature you can access.

To do this...while the system is booting up going through the pre-diagnostics screen there should be a "blue Colored" bar appear with "WWW.Dell.Com" or just "Dell.Com" for approx. 2 seconds...if this shows up then you are in Luck.

During the Blue Bar logo at the top of the screen, press the "CTRL" Key and the "F11" in sequence this will allow you to access "Dell Restore" located on your hard drive..remember it is a hidden partition.

It will ask you if you want to do "Restore" you click "yes" and it will ask you to confirm..click Yes...then it goes into Dell Restore by Symantec and re-formats your drive and re-installs everything like it first arrived from the factory...just follow the on-screen instructions and DON'T Stop the sytem during the restore process this is VITAL by doing so will cause alot of technical headaches.

It will ask you to confirm to "finish" click yes and the system will re-boot and everything will be like new again.

If you have Microsoft Office installed or other programs that require a product key..you will need these keys to re-activate your software..they are located on the original CD's that came with the computer.

Hope this helps you out.
Sincerely yours,
Jeff Pino

Almost forgot to mention...if you have re-installed the operating system via CD this will wipe out a file called MBR or Master Boot Record and access to the restore partition will be lost..unless you have previously made a backup of the MBR using a neat tool called a MBR saver and Restore.

Don't understand why Dell Support doesn't help you in this part...I use Dell Systems and ran into the same problem..but I had saved my MBR prior so I was able to regain access to the restore partition again.

I found this info on a blog on Dell Restore..it works real good..it only works if you are using XP, VISTA systems use another protocol to restore and I'm not quite familiar with the VISTA restore features.

Best of Luck,
Jeff Pino

thanks bu the only problem is i have vista..im ganna go check at a computer store and see what they tell me..if its more than $100 USD im not putting the money into it and im just ganna have to buy a new one :(....

Just before the usual Vista bootscreen would occur (where it says Microsoft and has the green bars moving) make sure to be pressing F8, this will take you to the advanced boot menu. The disable automatic restart option should be there, there's also a memory test option which is worth trying if you don't want to remove sticks manually. It does sound like it could be a memory problem.
