Topic: QSC or Crown

Having used QSC amps for ages and been V happy with them I am now looking to buy another. I currently use 2 QSC PLX2502 amps, 1 to drive each stack. I have been looking at the PLX 3602 to use for driving a set of 4 18" 8Ohm sub bass cabs but have also been given some good reports from owners of the Crown XTI4000. As the Crown is several hundred pounds cheaper I am wondering if it is as good as the QSC. The power output specs are similar and the crown has the advantage of a built in DSP.

Any comments welcome from users of these amps.

had the same dilema myself.ended up getting a crown xti4000.have to say quality amp but as been stated both are brill.
 
You can't go wrong with either one.
 
I use all QSC Amps right now, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. The only thing you may want to consider is QSC did offer a 6 year warranty compared to Crown's 3 year warranty. I'm not sure if this still holds true or not that may have been a limited offer at the time I bought mine. Then again you're probably not going to need a warranty. I have 2 QSC amps that are about 14 years old that I replaced just because they were old, they still function perfectly so I keep them for backups.

I use the QSC RMX 5050 for my subs, using bridged mono at (4) ohms with JBL cabinets (2 18's per cabinet) I get about 5,000 watts. This is probably a couple thousand watts more than the Crown XTI. It's been a while since I researched this and went with the QSC. It's a bit more pricey of course which many times is factor, I used Peavey for a while when I first started.

Both QSC & Crown are great amps.
 
I believe the warranty Renee mentioned is still valid.

I own QSC PLX 3002, QSC PLX 3402 and an OLD QSC EX 4000. I have NEVER had ANY problems or issues whatsoever. All three amps are ROCK SOLID!!!

The PLX series are lightweight but deliver massive power. The EX 4000 is heavy as a dufflebag of bricks but it has POWER TO SPARE and is a workhorse.

I don't own the Crown but several of the Bands I work with use them religiously. I see these amps power 8 quad subs, 8 Mids and a range of tops. Never seen one have as much as a hiccup.

You sure have a choice to make but whichever way you go, you'll be happy.

This might make a difference, what are you using the amp for? what kind of application? what kind of speakers? how many? How much power do you need? What are the power ratings of the speakers?

My suggestion, whichever of these POWERFUL amps you get, GET A COMPRESSOR.

also check out the stasys-x bass bins while youre there, they have them at a club i go to all the time and they beat funtion1 and turbosound hands down
 
If you can find a PLX 3402 (last years model) it will be cheaper and it is just as good (actually bettier i think) I own one and I drive 4 folded horns with it...
 
I had 2 CE 1000s and now i have 2 QSC PLX 1602's for mains and 2 PLX 2402's for subs.. @ 700 watts rms each The Crown amp connections from the back are spaced out and the QSC's are cramped up.. They both sound good.. The new crowns are really light and they have a crossover built in which is really good.. Nice

I think I will be going with the QSC. I cant realy choose between them so ime just going to stick with keeping the amps matched.

I am currently running The PLX2502's 1 per stack into 4 4 Ohm (not 8 Ohm as previously stated)18" 600W JBL bins and 4 8Ohm 500W 15"+horn's but run them at 2 Ohms (2 bins paralleled per side ). I want to get away from doing this by using a more powerfull amp to give me the same output as I have now but into an 8Ohm load (running the bins in series not parallel).

The PLX2502's have never let me down or cut out but I do feel that the run hotter than I would like hence the reason for the extra amp.

Nice looking amps from Void by the way but I dont fancy lifting them 39Kg, ouch!

Hi all

Well the purchace was made and after all the hummin and hawin I went for the Crown XTI4000.
I think they are on par or slightly below the QSC on build ( the front of the QSC is far beefier looking) but the built in DSP realy swung it for me.I had the guy in the shop show me what the DSP can do especialy when the amp is hooked up to a pc or laptop. Using some software available free from Crown you can do all sorts. It sounds great and seems to run cooler than the QSC even into 2 Ohms. So far very impressed.

I use 2 racks with in each rack 2 of the XTI 4000's. I love them. I have a wifi to usb transmitter in each rack (and a 4 port usb hub), so I could monitor all 4 of them from my laptop, while the amps are standing at the back of my speakers.
Last weekend we had a big even and had a total of 7 racks (3 racks on both sides for line array and 1 rack for monitors) 14 amps in total. I could monitor them all in real time.
