Scenerio: If i were to connect two 2 Pioneer CDJ 800 Mk2 to my hercules DJ Console 4-Mx inputs.

Questions:
1) would the audio source have to come from CD's or would i be able to mix mp3's from my laptop on the CDJ's.
2)If i can use the CDJ's to play mp3's via VDJ a) is it timecoded?
b)would the scratch modes features work? along with play/pause, cue, loops, etc?

3)If negative...is there any way to script the same effect as the different scratch modes from the above video for virtualDJ's decks to behave like that with the Hercules DJ console 4-mx or any other controller thereof?

PIONEER CDJ 850 1.04 update ( pair ) - VIRTUAL DJ 7.0 PRO .

Hi , just updated my 850s and decided to go to virtual dj for the first time and get rid of the cds .
couple of probelms with getting everything working firstly whats diffrence between asio drivers and midi or hid with vd7 and what is the best setup ? ..

i have tried asio but weneva playing music through asio setup i am getting a horrible noises like distortion through my line ..

i have also tried using the setup as 2 cards on external mixer and the sound is clear but for some reason actual response and scratch sound isnt as good ..

just looking for the best setup please any info wud help me greatly thx :)

tony

midi is a controller (like CDJ); hid is human interface device(think mouse or keyboard). The issue with both ASIO and run 2 sound cards is your latency. what's the horsepower on your computer? how much memory do you have? The lower you can set you latency the better the scratching will sound, but the less leeway you'll have in sound quality.

Hey everyone i jus got my cdj 850s and DJM 700 and i have a concern..

I cant seem to CUE my next track. While one track is playing, and i begin to CUE my next track, it plays out the speakers as well! The hardware connections are all correct. Im thinking its something to do with the settings in VDJ. I have both my CDJs plugged into my Mac Pro via USB cables and then then plugged into the mixer with the RCA cables.

According to YouTube tutorials ive watched most people (on the software) select EXTERNAL MIXER, and then below select the 2 SOUND CARDS option, with "CDJ 850" as one sound card, and "(2)CDJ 850" as the other. In my case, ONLY "CDJ 850" appears under both dropdown menus for the 2 soundcard option. I never get the "(2)CDJ 850" option.

What do i do?

Hi again- I am running a 2 gb dual core amd 2.2 laptop . running the 2 cards I have latency set as low as 128 I think it is on virtual Dj latency performance settings .
I actually have had them running in the club tonight and it is very slow in comparison to CDs . the other issue I have come across tonight is I can be playing music then all of a sudden it will crackle and the music will cut off but the program is still running without sound .any ideas ??

Thx

DDJ-S1 Mapping

It is not available. I sent you a message from the other thread - asking you to fully complete the submission with a graphic and then I will make it available.

Hi, i have 2x cdj-400 and 1x DJM-400 and VDJ on Mac...yesterday i was using them all together with no problems and now i can't seem to get them working seperately...when ever i press eject on one they both change from "deck 1 too Deck 2" or visa versa...do you know what is wrong? and what i can do to fix it?

How am i able to get the LED of the Slipmode in VDJ on the Pioneer CDJ 900?

Regards, C.Hackl

Is there a way of getting the waveform to display on the CDJ850 instead of the album name (like on the 900/2000)?

Also is there a way to map the CDJ850 so when you make a scratch and then release the jog wheel, the song goes back to the cue point?

Thanks so much

Ian - the display is what you get ... you have to remember - if the manufacture doesn't put the ability there to show it then it can't be done. And if the ability was there - then we would have provided for it.

As for your second request - no, that is not possible.

Just thought I would check. As I have been trying to get it on the display and thought I might be doing something wrong, As it show's up on the 900 and 2000 and when you use music off a usb key on the 850. Thanks though.

Not everything that is available when using CD or USB is made available when used as a controller.

This sounds similar to A.Cue scratch which is found on some CD players. This is possible with some custom mapping - Please see the section entitled A.Cue Scratch on the VDJscript examples page: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VDJScript%20Examples.html

Nice one JP thought there might be a way to do it. Thanks again so much, will have a look

Done it, here is how i mapped the cue for anyone else that is after the same.

BUTTON:
up ? effect 'CDJ Frame' active off & var 'cueplay' ? cue_stop & set 'cueplay' 0 : nothing : cue ? play & set 'cueplay' 1 : play ? pause & goto_cue : delete_cue & set_cue
LED:
cue ? on : play ? off : blink

I have vdj 7 pro, with 2 pioneer cdj 350s. It works fine except when I go from using vdj to cd (or USB) mode virtual dj says it has a fatal error and shuts down. I have the cdj hooked into my laptop via the USB ports (HID), have the latest pioneer drivers, and have the left cdj running on outputs 1 & 2/ and the right cdj on outputs 3 & 4.

I think I have it hooked up right, because I can drag and drop tracks into each units and they work just fine. Bit as soon as I push the button to swith input modes vdj shuts down

I'm running it on a Sony Viao w/ windows xp

Any advice to make this work would help......

Scrap my last, not quite there with it yet. will test some more

@ djeVo121
You have find the "funny" hardware limit of Pioneer CDJ-350 & 850, CDJ-400, 900 & 2000 have an high price but did not have this limit.
