Topic: TCCD And Pioneer 800's work like CD Control?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi everyone...

I use Pioneer 800's with TCCD. I have started using this set up A LOT more often than I used to.

I want to make VDJ respond like a CD would. For example....

If I hit the cue button on the Poineer, I want VDJ to go back to the Cue point.

How can I get this going?

Put cdjs in vinyl mode, use vinyl for timecode setting in VDJ

And it works just like that ;)

That's how I have it but it does not work. When I hit cue on the Pioneer, the track does not go back to the cue point in the track. I have auto cue enabled so when I load the track, it loads to the 1st cue point but sometimes when I hit play on the Pioneer, The track will start BEFORE the cue point that I have set. It's like it goes to the beginning of the song, NOT the set cue point. And when I hit cue while playing the song, it does NOT go back to the cue point I have set.

Very frustrating.

That depends a bit on what mode you are using

Abolute mode : "absolute" control from the CDJS (behaves exactly like a cd). Software aids do not work

Smart mode : software aids works, such as smart loop, cues etc in software, and software overrides CDJs, when software features are used.

Relative mode : a mix of the two above

Absolute mode makes "play" respond like the play button should but the cue button acts like a pause button. It will not go back to the cue point.

Smart mode kinda works but cue sometimes makes the track go to the beginning of the song rather than back to the cue point. Other times it works like a pause button. Sometimes it works the way I want it to but not reliable enough to depend on.

I'll keep trying.

Any other ideas?

What mode are your CDJ players in? CD or vinyl mode?

And make sure you set same in VDJ..

CDJs in vinyl mode and VDJ in vinyl mode should work best

Yep...That's how I have it. Both the Pioneers and VDJ are in vinyl mode.

I know this can work. I just need to find out HOW to make it work the way it should.

dj city try setting you cue point +10 secs on cdjs before you load a track. in smart mode, this way virtual dj thinks youve needle droped onto the first grove of vynil and will play from your first cue point if you play from 0 it will go to begining of file
hope that helps

djcity,
Bro, think about it.

When you stop the Time Code by pressing CUE on your CD player, All VDJ knows is that the Time Code has paused, that's it.
It doesn't know that you hit CUE instead of the PLAY/PAUSE Button.

If you want VDJ to snap back to that CUE point that is on your CD player you have to transmit that TC information to VDJ. Tap the CUE button once more on your CD player and VDJ will respond because it now knows that the Time code has changed.

That being said, this is one of the reasons I suggested a TCCD default skin in the Wishes and New Features Forum, awhile back.

Did you get this to work? Am wondering if you can use the Cue button on a Pioneer CDJ to go back to the start of the tune. hopefully you found a solution?
