Hello all.
I was looking to buy some software to just mess around with and make my own music. I was looking at the VDJ Home Edition. My main thing is, I would like to be able to create a song from nothing and build it myself with sounds, effects, etc..... Does VDJ Home Edition come bundled with a lot of sounds, etc..... or do I have do buy a more expensive version to be able to access sounds whether they are bundled or I download them? I looked around some on the site, but was not quite sure so I was hoping someone could give me a quick answer on what would best suit me.
I do not intend on becoming a true DJ, but I just want to mess around with the proper software that will allow me to do the above mentioned.
Thanks in advance.

You need more of a sequencer program than a DJ one. VDJ won't be able to help you put music together because it's not made for that.
There are programs like Cubase and Multiquence that may be better suited for what you need. I use Multiquence to create megamixes and it's excellent and easy to use.
Have a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_sequencer

Hey,
I can highly recommend the Sony Media line of products. I have been an ACID user for years and have done many remixes with it. The Pro version is steep but the entry level is $54.00US.

You can download fully functional 30 day trials and Acid Loops are available everywhere on the internet.

Sequel 2 is essentially a very very basic version of Steinberg's Cubase/Nuendo series,
which are one of the leading music production kits for PC platform. So you don't
need a Mac to run Sequel (get PC demo here, and check some video tutorials).
It might be a good low-cost solution to start with production familiarization.
You can also check out the FL Studio Fruity Edition, which is in that price
range (download $99, boxed 139$):

Audacity for Windows. I have the Mac version and it's works well. And if you don't like it, delete it. It's free.

Thanks alll for the input. I decided to go out and buy the Sony ACID music studio 7. Only played with it for about 2 hours so far, but I can tell once I get the hang of all the features, it'll bewhat I was looking for.
Take care all.

Depends what you are trying to accomplish, but ACID is probably the easiest IMHO.
