I am looking to add Karaoke to my Mobile Business and had the thought of using VDJ instead of buying a player. Does anyone do that? How does it work? Any suggestions?

many many users of vdj also incorporate karaoke using this software very successfully, give it a go, one or two things may need tweeking but you never know until you try it... have a look here for some answers >

Jammallnyte,
You have some options but I think that other people can tell exactly all the details.
I use two options:
1.
Buying karaoke dvd's and ripping it.
Then I can use it as a normal vid.
2.
But the other option is to play CDG files.
It is a mp3 and a file that shows the text of the song.
You see how quick or slow you have to sing because the text will be high lighted.
You can make CDG files or buying them.
For more info look for example here: http://www.powerkaraoke.com/
The advantage from CDG is that you don't use a lot of space on your hard disk.
The disadvantage is the you don't see people like a normal video but only text.
I like this last option because there are a lot of CDG files that sounds almost like the original.
Within virtualdj you can choose if you want to show music, video or karaoke.
If you mark the last one and go to the directory where you stored the CDG files, you will see that Virtual Dj recognize them.
Normally you find the files as zip files (with a mp3 and CDG file).
I don't think you have to unzip it, but I do it and Virtual dj plays it without any problem.
There are also Karaoke plugins, but therefore you must look at the plugin topics.
Have fun.

I'm using karaoke with vdj, have no problems whatsoever on my low end dell laptop (inspiron b130). BUT, I never do a gig without my cdgs and karaoke decks as backup just in case. Never wanna get caught with 10 minutes of reloading and having to stop the show;^]

My suggestion don't use Virtual DJ for karaoke. Too many other great programs made just for karaoke that are stable as ever.

that may be true but i only want to use one laptop and one programme when working.have enough ta do with keeping people happy.

I do mostly karaoke and I like VDJ way over sax and dotties.
How did you get the background up?
How do you set a default deck for your karaoke singer list to load onto? Mine loads it into what ever deck I'm have playing. Has anybody else had this problem. I have to work off the slips and I still like VDJ over Sax & Dotties!

Ok...this may be a long one. Im a newbie to all of this so be gentle. I bought the hercules rmx with virtual dj pro edition upgrade. I am looking to do Dj and karaoke at my shows. For Mics I bought a Vocopro VHF 48 4 mic wireless system. I got everything put together and working smooth, sort of. I plug in the wireless mic base into the mic jack of the RMX. The mics wont work unless you press the Mic talkover button (which kills the music volume by like 20%) I am able to adjust the volume of the music separately to accomodate but of course the singer's voice doesn't sound so great because I have no separate voice effects like reverb, echo, and such. I dont know what I need to do at this point. I already have spent a good deal of money and would like to keep the same equipment I have already purchased. Is there something I could get that would be inexspensive to make this work well and if so can you explain what hooks up to what and where? Any help would be greatly appreciated.......
Thanks so much

Try the rest but buy the best in my experience. Tested so many progs and VDJ suits MY needs, although the optional karaoke plugin is dodgy with Vista " mentioned in another thread "
Respectfully I would like to know which programmes are better than VDJ for Karaoke in your opinion then perhaps the team can implement some of the better features into VDJ 5.4.
