Topic: MIDI to USB cable

I am running windos Vista home premium. I want to connect my Pioneer DJM 800 to my laptop so I can control the crossfader to mix video. I bought a Z-TEK usb/midi cable but does not seem to be working. What are you guys using to do this? I am utterly confused with this.
