hie i jus got the numark battle pack as a gift and i was wondering if i need a sound card.

Give us the specs or a link to the battle pack, so we can make a decision. I have no idea what the battle pack is.
 
no you need time code vinyls
 
I have exactly the same setup. You'll need the MAYA 44 soundcard, and 2 timecoded records if you want to use your turntables with VDJ. I've been running this since christmas with no prob's at all, it's the best purchase I've made in a long long time.
 
Perhaps a Virtual Vinyl pack would be for you.

Pro licence of the software
High quality soundcard
All the cables needed
2 Timecoded Vinyls
2 Timecoded CDs if you ever want to change.
 
you need timcoded vinyl, serato or virtual dj. u need a sound card.. maya 44, rane sl1... hook up your stuff and your good to go
