Topic: For The Ones That Know Their House...

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

around 1989/90 there was a huge house song with a tribal feel. i only understand english but the vocals weren't in english. i'm thinking maybe it was a spanish song. this was a huge song because i was a kid and i went to different parts of the world and heard it all over.

the vocals were a female. went something like "tonga tonga to-to-to-to-tonga..." + ".. i-a-a-a-a-o i-a-a-a-o-e".. something like that lol.

the drums sounded live. NOT like safri duo. a little more electronic but heavy.

anyway i'd like who knows their house to name some 1988-91 top 10 foreign house songs.
or a site i could hear some audio samples.
i'm sure it wasnt in german nor french the vocals could have been in spanish or african.

the instrumental sounds heavy like Dirty Bass - City On Fire.

more info:
came close ... armand van helden - Witch Doktor but not quite

came across Gloria Estefa - Oye. the beat started almost identical but once the trumpets came on i knew it wasnt it. the song i'm looking for doesnt have too much vocals on it. the vocals are more loops than real verses.

It is not your song, but if you are looking for foreign "early" tribal hits try the italian: "Kalimba de luna" by "Tony Esposito". the year is 1984-85 (it is not in italian)
