DaScratch’s center section operates mainly in 3 different modes – Slider, Circle, and Button mode. These 3 different control layouts can be evoked by any of the mode buttons depending on how the DaRouter preset is programmed.

Slider Mode - Slider mode gives the user 3 variable controls (like faders) that can be used by sliding your finger up and down the areas next to the 3 LED meter bars. This mode can be used for controlling many parameters at once, like an EQ. A slider may be changed by dragging a finger across the surface, or you can place your finger in an absolute position on the slider and its position will jump immediately to that point. Two fingers may be used to trigger from one position to the next. For instance, holding one finger on the bottom of the slider and tapping the top with a second finger will make the slider generate the higher value for as long as that finger remains on the surface. Once the second (upper) finger is removed, the slider will generate the value indicated by the first finger position. We refer to this as a “finger jump”.
Circle Mode - In Circle mode, there is one slider at the center of the circle, and circular slider going around the perimeter of the touch surface. Just like in Slider mode, finger jumps are possible can be performed to quickly change the parameter in real time. This is the mode most likely to be used to emulate the platter of a deck. Circle mode is also the default mode of DaScratch. That is to say that if you plug DaScratch into your computer without using the DaRouter software, it will operate in Circle mode. But keep in mind that without DaRouter, the Mode Selector buttons (VINYL, LOOP, etc) will only send note data and will not change the operation of DaScratch.
Button Mode - In Button mode, the zones highlighted in the diagram will act as triggers to control buttons in the target application. For example, these functions could be assigned to alter loop lengths, jump to cue points, or start clips playing. Multiple buttons may be pressed at the same time in Button mode. Also, you will find some presets use a modified version of Button mode that makes the trigger areas bigger by combining 2 or more button zones.
StanTouch® - In every mode of operation, you’ll find that the touch sensitive areas on DaScratch will respond to multiple simultaneous touches. This is part of its core functionality, and indeed many cool behaviors and gestures can be developed around this capability.

It does do video and will work with Virtual DJ...Its a midi controller. It works with Virtual DJ, Serato, Abeleton, and Traktor
 
should I get rid of my Hercules RMX? I'm kind of disappointed with the RMX. I can't use my Denon 3500s with it because they have a high output that the RMX cannot handle. I'll be putting it on Craig's List

Check the download section - there's a timecode signal that is a little lower to compensate for the loud output of the Pro players like Pioneer and denon
 
Seems pretty ncie but if I had one I wouldn't use it to replace my decks, instead I'd use it for browsing tracks, cue points, loops etc

Marcell, I had a brain fart...what I meant was, when I use my Denon 3500 as a input player on the RMX, the signal is crazy distorted. The Hercules manual says I have buy another extra piece that will dampen the line-in volume. During a performance, I want to be able to quickly switch to a CD if my PC should decide to crash. The RMX makes that a difficult task with Denons. Thanks anyway
 
check whether on ur rmx u have it on phono or line in... for cd or any digital device, use line in.
 
i gotta get one !!! hear they should be in stores in the U.S no later than 10-24-08 (according to guitarcenter.agipro says by oct.22. or sooner..

for the price i gotta get at least one before they sell out.lol . stanton has out done themselves with this one ..

i like the scratch of their c314 cd tables..but they are made kinda cheap.imho.a patner of mine got 2 of em(and he's a neat freak.very clean,non smoker,)the problems on both decks is the play buttons stick alot..on one of th decks you cant scratch anymore (it jumps around and looses your spot almost everytime you try .

now they remade the c314 with the c316 then they brought a midi mixer and a midi deck which they look awesome but they're priced up there with my denon s5500's(1200usd) WOW.

Just picked it up from the store.
Played around with it (traktor, duh... yes I know, put the mappers are supplied out of the box from NI) to get a hang of it, and the feel is really like vinyl. perfect.
Now only get it mapped to VDJ and configured correctly and I really have a creative winning team behind me.

Do you mean you can scratch on it? Does it work like normal jog wheel as well?
 
I just got mine today too! this thing is light az hell.it comes with a map for tractor and serato (have to copy a file to the program stated them program will acknowledge it.

O.k ,so i don't think it can scratch in serato (no option to map the decks(play,pause,cues,eq..didnt know there was one in serato hehe,)
gotta map this baby to vdj asap.!
hey just thought of something ..so now i have to choose this or ddm4000 in general midi!! don't think i can use both since neither is internally supported :( well that's gonna suck big time for crossfading videos(i know i could map video the dascratch but not how i lik it ;like too keep both crossfaders together ;) ).
lets play with this baby..i'will report back
