you can never get rid of the beat i suppose you just want the vocals right? all you can do is turn the bass all the way down or use the kill button and play with the trebal as well, the midrange is where the vocals lie so leave that alone. hope this helps ;)

There is a slightly experimental way of doing this using a free sound program called audacity, but it is quick, easy, and totally reversible as well, plus i have included a before and after mp3 to show you what you are left with at the end of this post.

Go to google, find and download audacity, open the track you want and do the following..

click on the black triangle next to the audio track, select 'split stereo track'

you will then have a seperate left and right channel.

On each channel, click the triangle again and select 'mono'

Then click anywhere below the triangle on the top track so it is highlighted.

then go to the menu bar and select effect > invert

http://i880.photobucket.com/albums/ac9/clarkey1984/4.jpg

This will more often than not remove all bass (and possibly some other sounds) from the recording as it works on sound cancellation, and since one track is inverted, the 2 tracks playing together will cancel eachother out, and the (usually) slightly layered vocals will remain, although the only thing being is that when you re-save your now beat and bassless sound, it will be mono and not stereo, but i cant see that as being a major issue.

heres the before and after files i mentioned, although soundcloud has gone all alphabetical, so the after comes first, heres the link anyways

I hope this helps.

You cannot do so exactly. What you would need to do is turn the bass and treble knobs all the way down. Y
