are you going to be timecoding...? if not the djio is very good. if your going to have a time code set up the Numark Virtual Vinyl is typically regarded as the best.

no im not timecoding... another dj friend of mind suggested that i get a usb soundcard so i could use 2 channels on an external mixer.. instead of using the levels on vdj.. i have been looking at djio .. now would that do the job for me

Short answer - Yes. It's designed to DJ with.

However there are other options when using an External mixer. ANY 4.1 soundcard can be configured to have deck 1/2 seperated and into seperated into your channels on your board.

thanks for your help guys ill order one today :)

I would like to chime, hopefully you will consider my input as helpful. I just recently sold my DJiO to another member on here. Anyways, great card; inexpensive(which is what most look @t), but I will say that if you see youself doing more than just bedroom DJing you'll want something that is more offering. I ended up having to get rid of it for the simple fact(s). It had 2 output/inputs, which for me will not be enough(at least in the near future). If you decide that you want to cue and mix tracks over the card it's also possible; however I found it very hard and for me to even hear the slightest mixing of my songs I had to cut the headphone volume to max which actually made things worse for me. Yet, it is still a card that offers plenty of goodies. I would just say spend an extra $50-100 on something you'd actually know you'll end up using in the long run. I ended up getting rid of mines after just 3-4 months of use. Just my .02

I'm actually about to go ahead and invest in a Mixvibes U46MK2 card. It goes for about $199 on most sites but from what I've read it's worth the investment. If I'd of known this from the beginning I'd have went with this; not saying the DJiO isn't good, it's just limiting. Check it out. http://www.mixvibes.com/new/pageeng/page.php?x=mvu46mk2

As for the ones you posted links for; the Gigaport looks very similar to the Maya44 card. Those are decent and most would probably say a little better than the DJiO; I have no personal experience but I've read and have come to the conclusion. And the second one looks like a good card for messing around with; however take the quality into play. I bought one of those cheap cards just for my surround sound and it works well; other than that it's good for nothing. Not say don't get it if you prefer, but if money isn't too much of an issue go for the best now so you won't regret it later. I can't stress this enough and every time I go "cheap" I end up hitting myself upside the head for doing so. But I'd say look around a little more, do a little more research and find something that's suitable for your needs.

Some questions; will you be using headphones, microphone, how many stereo inputs, any outputs(turntable & cdjs, etc.)? Answering those will help you find what card you're looking for.

i will be using headphones / radio mic and cds (not turntables) all of which will be linked to the mixer, i only want a sound card so i can use 2 external channels.. thats all i will be using it for

I use the DJiO and love it.

I use an external mixer and do not touch the mixer in VDJ. I have the DJiO going into my Rane Empath mixer. I also have a booth out on my mixer for any additional requirements for extra audio signal.

My setup.

Laptop
500GB Hard Drive
DJiO
Dual ICDX's
Rane Empath

DJiO into channel One and Three on the Empath. Channel two is hooked up to my ipod incase i have to reboot.

If that's the case the DJiO, IMO, would be great.

FYI - I use the mixer's Headphone jack for cueing up songs... no need to use the one on the DJiO if you are using an external mixer.

thanks very much for all your advice guys, so would u all suggest i get djio ?

Newbie: I have laptop with only one audio output, can anyone recommend and confirm if I purchase a external sound card will I be able to use the headphone facility in VDJ.....Kenny

Yes I can confirm it. You need either, two sound cards or, a 4.1 or higher sound card to use headphones to pre-listen to the next track.

So if I purchase a USB 4.1 external sound card after plugging in I will be able to configure VDJ for listening and cuing on next track ??

Yes, in the sound set up......

Thanksfor your help. just seen DJ/IO....
