Topic: Problem with VDJ not naming certaing tracks properly...

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Do you guys have any problems with VDJ renaming Jay-Z tracks and other tracks that have a dash in the name as:

(file name): Jay-Z - Encore

(renamed by VDJ as): Jay - Z Encore

Very weird. Has anyone else seen this? I just noticed this. Looks like VDJ is having a problem with the dash in the name. Is there a way to correct the way VDJ sees the track/artist info? Thanks.

Rob,
Adding the dash will do it every time.
I spell it Jay Z - title.mp3
We can thank freedb for that I guess, just a no no when creating tags.
(-) is a known seperator and shouldn't be used for anything else.

Hmmm.. Ok. I guess I have to rename them. Shouldn't be that many... I will have to do a search and see..

Thanks.

You dont have to rename them....

Download the parser.dll from here:
http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/download.html?addon_id=448">new parser

Unzip the parser.zip and put the parser.dll in the Virtual DJ root directory

This will fix the way songs are added to database.

Jay-Z - 99 problems.mp will be Jay-Z in artist, and 99 problems in title.
And O-Zone etc will work the same way.

With this new parser, artist and title are sepearted by [space]-[space]

In other words, "JAY-Z" will be together in artist column, and "99 problems" will be in artist, if the name of the file is:
Jay-Z - 99 problems.mp3

hope that helps ;)

The parser did not help mine. DOn't know why? I've had it loaded. Jay-Z still read Z Jay

Simply remove the extra Hyphen ( - )
Everything to the left of the first hyphen will appear in the artist collumn. Everything after the first hyphen will appear in the title collumn.

If yoy renaming a song in VDJ and not in your folder (where are your mp3s is) then
DO NOT FORGET after the artist and track name to set also .mp3

so it goes like this: madonna-music.mp3(or wav or anything else your track is)

Thanks a lot. It worked perfectly. Just drop the file in the VDJ root folder like dj-in-Norway suggested and re-scan the hard drive.

Windows media player and OTS Juke DJ displays artist and song with all mp3 files. I have 3000, tracks of music that VirtualDJ does not recognise that way, how can I fix this problem without having to rename all tracks mike

Use the option READ IDTAG in version 2.1
