Topic: Need advice on making an mp3 mix for a party

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi all,

I need some advice on the easiest and least expensive way to create a continually beatmatched mp3 set for a dance party Im throwing for the new year. Basically I need like a 2 hr long set and I was originally just going to play it off iTunes on my laptop, but I'd like to step it up a little. I want it to be beatmatched and continual so that I don't have to mix each track live. I want to be able to do it all ahead of time, that way I am able to be out on the floor shakin' it with all my friends. I've downloaded the trial version of Virtual DJ just to test it out. I dont really know much about virtual Dj software. Or what options I have. Any and all advice would be much appreciated. I dont need anything fancy. The most minimal basic application that will allow me to beatmatch my mp3's and make one big long set is all I need.

One side note concern I have is that some of my mp3's were purchased from iTunes and are probably protected. So I need something that will allow me to use them aswell. All the ones that I purchased from iTunes would not import into the trial version of Virtual DJ, I kept getting errors.

THANKS AGAIN!

Joel

To have the protection 'removed' from the iTunes, have a look at tunebite (you have to purchase that also, although I think they have quiet a long demo period, which might just be enough for you). This plays the itunes in itune, captures the sound output and reencodes it into an mp3 without protection.

For beatmatching, buy the full VDJ product, you won't regret.

Otherwise if you own winamp there are some plugins that allow you to beatmatch and save your mix as well etc...

But never so easy as with VDJ!
