Whats a GSIF driver? (Maya44usb link)

There are 2 versions for windows vista 32 bit. Which is which?

Gary

GSIF is used by gigastudio and gigasampler. The package includes updated ASIO drivers as well . The newer version is the one at the top of the list v 2.8.11

This post came at the right time for me. I just got the Gigaport yesterday, and downloaded the drivers last night. I'm using it on my new Dell XPS 1710. Can you give me some pointers to get rid of the snap, crackle, and pop for this card? Also, is there a way to work on this cards config, outside of VDJ?

The Laptop;

Dell XPS 1710
Core 2 duo - 2.0g T7200
100g 7200rpm hard drive
2g of 667 ram
nVidia Ge Force Go 7900GS 256ram
SB integrated sound
Windows Home Premium
Bluetooth, WiFi, blah, blah,

Do you get snap crackle and pop when using the card playing from windows media player?

I do, and it turned out to be a conflict with the NVIDIA card, and at the moment it seems very little can be done about it.

Laptop is going back to HP for some tests. Hope you get your sorted though.

Gary

Yes, even in windows media player.

Ok, so that means its got nothing to do with VDJ then.

I would now make sure you have the latest version of direct x installed.

I would find the latest NVIDIA driver from Dell's website and download it.

Uninstall your current NVIDIA driver and install the Dell one. It maybe that Windows/Microsoft update has updated the NVIDIA driver with a new generic one, but NVIDIA laptop and desktop drivers can be different, so you need the Dell one.

I'd try that for starters.

Gary

If this doesn't solve the problem, i would try disabling your internal soundcard.

If the problem still persists, its possible you have an IRQ conflict between your NVIDIA card and the usb port you plug the maya into.

I don't feel 100% comfortable talking you through this, so maybe another member will, or better still check out Skyfxl's blog as he helped with mine. http://www.virtualdj.com/blog/skyfxl/

If no one else replies, i'd create a new post in the Hardware forum, as your problem might get overlooked here :)

Gary

Already disabled the on board sound card. Will check for the latest drivers.

Try to disable Bluetooth and wireless, it can help sometimes. Check if you don't have some IRQ conflicts and enable Overclock to see if pops are gone.

Can someone send me a shot of the config they are using with this card? Also, in performance, should it be program or background?

Program off course, I think that is default setting in XP.
Did you tried to disable bluetooth and wireless? Disable everything you don't need and if the problem is gone, enable it one by one to see which one is causing problem. Try different USB port also.

Using Vista, and I thought it was program, but saw background in another post. I thought you had to use the same usb port all the time? Or are you saying that, to see if there is a conflict? Will I have to reinstall the drivers? Plus I am at the club now, and will have to wait till I get home. I will also need to take a Vista course, because I can't find shit. The new desktop I'm building will have XP.

Yes, you will need to reinstall drivers for different USB port. You can see IRQ conflicts and sharing in system info.
If you are in the club, don't touch it ;)
Vista is similar in options as XP, but there are some changes of position and some new options added. I would not use Vista yet as it is like crying for some patch or service pack ;)

Yes, the maya will only work on the usb port it was installed on. Unistall it fully before reinstalling it on another port.

You are right, there are some posts where people have claimed to get better performance from setting the performance tab to background, but i think most users agree program is what should be selected.

I'm having the same problem as you but i have an HP laptop with NVIDIA & Vista. You'll probably find a lot of my posts when you search for yourself.

So far, the moderators, support and teamers have be unable to solve my problem, putting it down to a problem with NVIDIA cards. HP is having my laptop and VDJ software for 2 weeks in August, becuase they refuse to believe there is a problem, but there is. It can't be the software because we both have the same problem using windows media player too.

If i find anything new, i'll keep you posted. This might not be the same problem as you, so good luck and keep posting with how its going :)

Oh, I am using my desktop in the club now. I am using the laptop on line now. It's funny, it is raining like shit now, and the club just had a little power dip. Lost most of the TV's, but my UPS, that I just installed on Monday held up.

Has anyone tried the new Maya drivers with the old Audiotrak maya usb card - I know ESI is the same company but I don’t know if the new ESI card has any hardware changes or if it is the same Audiotrak card rebranded with the ESI logo. I don’t want to waste my time installing these drivers if they do not work with original (Audiotrak) Maya card.
