Topic: Is AtomixMP3 v2.3 compatible with Windows Vista? - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

I just downloaded the free version of v2.3 and it's exactly what i've been looking for.

Problem is, i'm looking to buy a brand new laptop and they're all coming with Windows Vista.

Does anyone know if v2.3 works with Vista?

I don't wanna buy a laptop only to find the whole reason for getting one is incompatable.

Sorry if this has been asked somewhere else in the forum.... I looked but couldn't find it.

just get the pro vdj

"just get the pro vdj"

I haven't tried that but it looks WAY more complicated than what I need.

Atomixmp3 is pretty much exactly what I want. Just a simple audio program.

If it's not compatible with Vista can someone just tell me instead of directing me to another product?

I just need a simple music player/mixer, and atomixmp3 does EXACTLY what I want.

works fine on vista.

Thank you, skyfxl.

That's all I needed, just a yes/no answer.

Don't work on my new laptop with Vista, was going to purchase but won't unless someone can tell me why its not working :-(

well could you please explain how it is not working ?

AtomixMP3 is not designed with Vista in mind. It is old and there is no such thing as a Free Version. The reason it won't work it because of the Vista architecture and the lack of backwards compatibility in the Vista O/S with OLD applications.

Giving the user the benefit of that the free version is a demo, and saying that he dont really want an advanced DJ app, but a simple DJ player, it might (not sure) be able to run better in Vista, if you right-click the EXE (start the program file), and choose to run in "XP mode" ;)

You can of course also get VirtualDJ instead, and run it with the AtomixMP3 skin from our download section.
VDJ is very advanced, but the skin can hide such features, and present VDJ as a pretty simple dj player too (like Atomixmp3)

Works fine on my Vista machine.
Consideration should be given to forward thinking in software.
Development for Atomixmp3 has stopped, if you buy software today there is no guarantee that it will work in the future being a non current app.

As Rune said, if you use the simple skin the program is much more attractive as a simple application.
Support is better and development continues.

The suggestion here and made towards VDJ as I did in eservice is in your best interest.

It may be a bit overwhelming at first, but you will grow into it over time, rather than out of it regretfully spending money you could have spent towards better software.

I have tried all sorts to get it to run but no joy, I appreciate all the comments but at this stage I was looking for simple, I will no doubt go with the Pro version down the line but firstly I can not get past the invalid skil file error which come up when I try to run Atomix MP3 I have uninstalled re installed and installed as administrator and still the same error arrises.....if I right click on the EXE file there is no Vista option ? so unsure what you mean................in short HELP

k, first first...
Delete all skins in the skin folder of Atomix mp3, then reinstall
your skin is not compatible with your Atomix mp3 (VDJ skins do not work, for example)

Ok so if you right click the desktop short cut (EXE) and select run as administrator hey presto I can run Atomixmp3 :-) ok so how does the auto mix part work ?

Auto mix... hm.. Its been awhile, but dont think Atomixmp3 have automix.. or I might be wrong.
VDJ has automix

If you are looking for a "non dj" automix app, there are solutions that can play music non stop at your PC, such as Itunes (has crossfading settings)

Yes Atomixmp3 does have Automix just been messing with it, perfect nice and simple to have a look at and get started with, yes I like it now I have sussed how to make it run on Vista

So Virtual DJ can do all that Atomixmp3 can and obviously more..............I like to start simple so I understand the basics and then get more involved, I tend to learn more this way and remember it ;-)

I am a part time mobile DJ and have tried all sorts of software to run my digital files but this is by far the best I have seen, I hope I can use Virtual DJ similar to Atomixmp3

Yes I like it any more advice from you peeps who know the coo..............sorryif I sound dumb but asking questions and sussing it prior to parting with my wedge is best me thinks. Big G

No worries, thats why we have a forum.. For questions ;) The only dumb questions, are the questions never asked.. Better to ask, than not ;)

And yeah, VDJ is the big brother to Atomixmp3. It can do all, and a whole lot more.. and far better auto mix :)
The demo if free, so one can try http://www.virtualdj.com/download.html

But if Atomixmp3 suits your needs, nothing wrong with that :)

I will try VDJ now.............is the automix easy to find ?

Thanks all for the help and prompt replies, very helpfull to have someone to bounce my questions and ramblings off.

Big G

yeah its pretty easy

One can save the playlist, merge the playlist, choose automix type and lots more ;)

Perfect :-) Thankyou...............20 days and I will be parting with my money.

Big G

Love it..............so cool and like you say when you start messing it takes shape real quick.

Play around with it, and if you got questions feel free to ask ;)

And hope to see you as full member soon... :)
