Everyone is raving about the Meya sound card. There are allot of videos on Youtube.com, one especially helpfull video from DJ Sarcross who goes through his computer set-up including his sound cards and MIDI controllers. I think you will find everything you need to know there. However, most DJ people only mention and advertise external USB sound cards. If you're new and using your desktop and need a sound card, you could go for an internal sound card. MUCH cheaper. Internal sound cards from Novatech.com

For beginners I recommend the soundblaster live 24 bits it is usb or pci, they sound good and work with 4.1 mode and not expensive at all.

so what a good sound card for playing live in clubs ect. Able to supply an amped speaker system with suitably high quality sound. Should I be looking to get one with ma Total Controll when it comes out that has a sampling rate of 128kbp or higher?

I've been using the audigy x-fi platinum with excellent resample and even works for tcvs use.

thanks for the help so wha external sound card would you recommend ?? and what internal would you recommend
thanks again

For external use the maya44 usb that is back again the esiu46dj is discontinued currently , and for internal use the audigy2 zs platinum, x-fi platinum and x-fi ellite.
