I am looking for a remote control solution that can be used with VDJ to control various functions while away from the laptop as a 'roaming DJ'. I have been searching through past posts, but cannot find anything conclusive on this topic.
In searching the web, I have found claims that the ATI Remote Wonder II RF remote, working in conjunction with the Remote Wonder Key Factory (free plugin) allows the user to configure all keys of the remote. Customization is based on 'key stroke macros', so it is theoretically possible for this to work with VDJ.
I was wondering if anybody has had any experience in testing this with VDJ?

You can also use a wireless Gamepad and this mapper.

It's not a dead link but: [level Professional edition user]
But you can read about it in my blog.

Thanks pern, this looks great. But I was looking for a solution that would provide RF remote capabilities (wireless). Sorry for the delay in response, currently travelling in Brazil (did a couple of small party gigs here too).
Any idea's?

I managed to modify the transmitter/receiver section of an old wireless smoke machine to control winamp. Useful when on stage directing games or whatever, I used the keyfob button to skip through a winamp playlist of sound effects and backing tracks etc. The only problem is that there's only one control channel available... I believe Maplin still sells a radio control kit that provides 3 or 4 relay outputs, which could be connected up to an old keyboard, or an old joystick in conjuction with Pern's latest mapper...
Here's a thought - a cheap radio controlled car, with two pairs of relays (separated with diodes) connected to the reciever board in place of the original motors - that would give you four channels of control, and wouldn't cost much if you're handy with a soldering iron.

A wireless Gampad is "wireless" and reach about 10m.
I'm at the moment modifying one to look and work like this:

Nice one pern... might try something along those lines as well.... how about modifying an old radio mic and/or RF headphones, and build that into the box as well? Remote control console, with mic and headphone monitoring as well... kinda like a wireless hercules console!

I have already been thinking about RF headphones also , thats why there is a Load / CUE , CUE-MIX listening function .
This "controller" uses multi-button functionality. So there will be a special MIDI Mapper for it also.
