I dont know if I'm the only one, I've read all the previous post regarding sound cards. I'm an IDIOT when it comes to this soundcard lingo. I just need someone to point me in the right direction. I have a dell laptop, Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB, 2Gigs of Memory. I bought this only for VDJ and my gigs. I need an external sound card. I'm currently waiting for the numark total control to come out. I dont want to spend more than $300 on a sound card, the cheaper the better obviously, but I dont want to sell myself short. I've looked around for stores to purchase sound cards from, but they dont have much of a selection (COMPUSA, BEST BUY, FRY'S)PLEASE HELP!! The MKII is really not for me, I plan to use it for clubs. HELP!!!

Does it have to be from a local store? audiomidi.com carries most of the soundcards out there. If nothing else, you can use them to compare features.

i only buy pro audio at stores that sell that kinda thing......a consumer electronics store is not a good place for that.....

@daguirre10
If you are going to use Numark TotalControl (USB), consider getting FireWire soundcard (avoid conflicts). You probably want to have an external drive down the line as well (usb)
Are you going to use timecode or not?
Non-timecode:
- Get a known brand card, such as Soundblaster
Timecode:
- You need a low latency asio soundcard

PCMCIA cards that works good
- Soundblaster E-MU 1616M
- RME Audio Hammerfall DSP System
Generally speaking, almost any card that has two line ins in STEREO, and two line outs, will work, and if it has ASIO drivers its likely to work awesome (low latency drivers).
Those listed above are PRO cards, so some are damn expensive..
But get a card thats not the most expensive, but not the cheapest eather.
Soundblaster is a good solution on budget.
you need a card with asio and low latency ;)

Or if you can wait some more weeks, get Numark VirtualVinyls box
Made to work specially good for VDJ/Numark VV, with timecode use

Can you get the box seperately?
I'd love to have it for backup. Is it usb like serato?

Although not comfirmed by Numark, it would probably be available as box only.
That would only be logic, as a user that looses or destroys his box, shouldnt have to buy the whole package again.
And I really think Numark want to sell the box to VDJ users too :)

Great info Dj-in-norway! Has anyone tried getting a group buy going from Numark???? I mean how much better does it get for them to do pre-orders here, and hopefully get a huge discount for us ;)!!!!
I dont do timecodes as of yet. I think I'm going to have to buy some turntables though. Ahhhh crap, I guess I just got bit by the VDJ bug....Thank goodness for tax returns!!!!!!! =D
