Topic: Setup for mixing

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello all,

I have been using virtual dj for about a month and I have read the manual, however I seem unable to configure the software so I can get output on both my headphones and my speakers.

I did see a message previously stating you need the fully licensed software - I currently have the Pro edition which I believe is the full package but have not been able to get out of mixing onto my headphones before crossfading onto speakers.

Can anyone tell me how this is done, I have also got a splitter jack so I can have an output to the headphones and an output to the speakers but this has not made any difference?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

are you pluging your speakers and phones to the same jack? what soundcard do you have?

this is how i do it.......click config, sound setup.......i have inputs none ,outputs 3lines mixer, soundcard asio , asio drivers.......presonus asio driver (firebox) (this is my pre sonus 3 channel soundcard) in output channels it says 1&2 left,3&4 right, 5&6 headphone

this particular card you can plug in headphones in the front and run out a 3rd headphone channel out the back simultaneously.........this is good especially if you are attached to a mixer that has no cue button......in other words you can setup autoplay for your songlist, the left and right players will load and play themselves and you can preview in the headphones as you like w/o starting or stopping

the presonus is good it costs $300 and has hot outputs and a very loud headphone output......it is not a cheapy card but it's not an expensive one either.....there service is excellent too......

have a nice day :)

Thanks to all for your advice... I am djing off a laptop so I am not sure if I can add a second sound card. I am interested in the card mentioned for $300 so may check that out :-)
It seems I need this to be able to have the 3 different outputs.

Also, yes I would like my profile changing to female please. However not sure where this info is stored?? It certainly is not available on my profile list.

Many thanks again,

From the sound setup of VirtualDJ choose None-Headphones-Spliter-and your sound card

Take a look at your jack splitter. A splitter, splits left chanel to output No1 and right chanel to ouput No2. There are jack "splitters" that just give the same thing left and right.

Yes, these aren't splitters, but doublers. But many people don't know the difference.
