Topic: Is there further info for "Edit AutoMix" tab?!

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I praise VDJ daily but have an issue hehe

I see nothing in the manual and truth be told, the interface isn't the most intuitive to understand for the AutoMix tab.

What are these three variables: Mix Fade, Mix Cut and Mix Tempo? Each contains an "allow" checkbox that I have yet to figure out.

What exactly is the "set entry point" and "set exit point"?

Thanks as always for any help and time =D

mix fade is is alowing the crossfade style of mixing , cut is a hard cut between music mix tempo is how fast the mix is i think

entry is where the song should start and exit is where it should stop and go to the next this is saved for each song.

skyfxl, everyone,

What i'm about to say is not to put you down personally or anyone else... It's just that I see it too many times when moderators & VDJ teamers end a sentence with "I think" and they are suppose to be the knowledgeable ones.

I spend about 2 hours a day searching the forum for questions and answers concerning VDJ as the guide is never complete and up to date, especially when it comes to the latest versions. After reading a paragragh and I see "I think" at the end means you are not sure and probably wrong... why don't you(or anyone) leave the answer to some who is REALLY sure so we don't have to keep going back and forth to see or wait for someone who's right to reply!

Another idea... with all of the moderators & VDJ teamers knowledge why don't you guys/gals get together and continue writing the VDJ owner's manual to keep it up to date. All VDJ has to do is translate it to other languages. You all seem to enjoy answering forum messages quickly!

Apply yourself and help VDJ give us a better and up to date owner's manual or it might be even faster if you create you own complete owner's manual. I might even pay for it!! There are too many places to look on this forum for answers and too many repeats in each forum with conflicting answers. One manual updated monthly with a troubleshooting section sounds great to me... Many places I play and have a question or problem there's no way for me to log on to the forum but if I had an up to date monthly manual my answer would probably be there.

Peace out,

im sorry to say if i dont say i think i often get flamed even if i am right .

so i have to post conservatively

any ways no dennying the manual could do with an expansion , it would be nice if we could have a wiki page or somthing to put all the known safe fixes and detials on it :)

i vote for an online manual with links to specific topics.

I couldnt agree more. I was shocked and annoyed at the same time because I saw no blogs or walk-thrus on the subject of automixing. You have my vote! That manual seems way outdated or one that leaves a user filled with questions.

I spent a considerable amout of time trying to figure out the automix tab to no luck. It seems as though the functions are not quite finished or even work. I could get the "entry point" and "exit point" to work to some degree but that "stored" info never seemed to save correctly on exit of the program. I found myself exting the program, renaming the files I was working with and rescanning on relaunch. Nor could I get automix to mix for more than 8 measures/bars. Even then, the mixes would never beatmatch correctly (created a one minute intro and a one minute outro from the same song. Loaded each one minute file in VDJ and experimented with the three variables of mix style). There was always a werid millisecond skip as each file would load.

I definatley think that the "automix" function could be a valued asset to VDJ's form and functionality and at this point seem terribly dissapointed.

I live, eat, sleep and breath VDJ and have nothing but admiration for the amount of time and effort it has been to create such a great program.

I would think "mix tempo" would mean that it would mix the two tracks in tempo or "beatmatched" fashion. Then again, I'm only guessing here as theres nothing in the manual hehe

=)

So let's say I added my variables for edit automix as follows:

turntable 1:
mix tempo selected and allow checked. Entry and exit points have been set in the song and are exactly 16 measures in length. (ive chosen n'ericks satisfaction).

turntable 2 is set the same way except the song is n'ericks open.

If I were to open the "edit automix" to view my settings, those values should be the same as I had left them 2 seconds ago but they are not! This leads me to believe the software isn't fully functional or complete in this section?

Secondly, is there anyway to simply remove a track thats cued without dragging a song in it's place? In a real life situation and real turntables, there would be a moment where these isnt a piece of vinyl on the turntables platter.

hehe 75 views and not one answer =(

I need some enlightenment here please. I do not see " Mix Fade, Mix Cut and Mix Tempo in automix.
I have clicked on the automis on top center of vdj as well as the automix in the playlist.
Exactly where are these at?
Also i would agree with the manual update on line

Bogart you see these when you are setting your start points and stop points under Edit BPM with the song loaded.

Again, I ask...anyone knowledged in this automix feature? A bazillion users and nobody is skilled in the "automix"? hehe

ill go work it out :)

i dont use automix much

Thanks for that clarification. I never messed with that part
of editing BPM.

You have to re-load that track to see the changes

In the Vmix skins there is an unload button, you can try those.
