Why do I need to buy MK2 if I'm only going to mix on the computer? Is there any reason why not go for the Hercules MP3 then I wonder?

mk2 has a soundcard and can be used for previewing and timcoded vinyls

mp3 contol has no soundcard and is just a simple midi controler

you need a soundcard so you can play music and listen to the preivew

if you already have a 4.1 plus soundcard you might not want it

but personaly i think mk2 is much better unit/deal

Ok so you strongly recommend the MK2. Then MK2 it is! Thank you so much for the help, really appreciate it! :)

just be sure to read all of the problems mk2 has.

sound quality is good, but there is also static. (speaking from experience)

what do you mean? does MK2 have problems that MP3 doesn't have? what kind of problems could that be?

that is due to bad insulation of cables and power sources and part of all cards

and is easily remidable for all cards
buy using different plug for your amp than ur laptop

or using a grounded powerstrip :)

Now I get the big difference the consoles between, with the MP3 it is not possible to listen to headphone before you play the song. that is quite useless then, can't mix for real then!

MK2 it is!

Another question! Some guy on another forum told me that Hercules was only plastic bullshit, that I shoult buy this usb-mixer NUMARK DXM-01USB instead and it was even cheaper so what's the difference between these?

i learnt the basics with the mk2 its a good all in one unit which will aslo let you use timecodes if you decide to jump to that

some people look down on it because it can have a higher latency than some cards however i posted on my blog a way to get this down to 2ms which is lower than most cards

it aslo gets you home edition free which you can upgrade at a reduced price

but at the end of the day its up to you :)
