ASUS XG Station brings the power of a dedicated 3D graphics engine, providing users with the best of both worlds. Simply plug in the XG Station to the LCD monitor and connect the notebook via an Express Card connector and get ready to game!
This dock is like a magic shoehorn that'll let you use a top line desktop graphic card with a laptop.
It connects the two via the laptop's express card slot, and the 3D card's PCI express interface. The dock also has USB ports, a headphone jack, and that luscious LCD that shows PC stats like GPU clock speed, temp, master volume, and FPS.

Nice idea, I wonder if the speed with the express slot of the laptop matches that of a PCI express slot.

Express Card port IS PCI express ;) 2.5 Gb/s... !!!
ENORMOUS speed
ExpressCard technology is the name of a new standard introduced by PCMCIA
Older PC Card standard only had 132 MB/s maximum
So new PCs with Express card port have direct access to PCI-E (serial interface)

Very interesting indeed. I wonder if superglue will attach it to my laptop.

Now I have a use for my MacBook Pro's Express Card slot. EVDO had a booth at MacWorld http://www.evdoinfo.com/EVDO/Info/What_is_EVDO_2005021237/ but they only have wireless internet access service through Sprint and Verizon, but I'm a Cingular user. I feel sorry for any of Cingular's competition right now though, and I sure as heck am not gonna switch away from them now that the iPhone's coming out.
SIDENOTE:
I just got back from MWSF '07 and my friend was telling me last night that a LOT of people have started to come in and CANCEL their recent cell phone contracts (usually have 30 days to do this) with other providers like Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc. because they're all gonna wait for the iPhone to come out in June and switch to Cingular.
BACK ON TOPIC:
This external graphic card looks VERY interesting though to keep at home for gameplay. Now if I could only make some time to play games. =P

Games are cool;)
but the real interesting question would be if this solution would make laptops able to mix video on hot desktop graphic cards using the dock, with VDJ video mixing...
If that works, it would be awesome news!:)

Maybe VDJ should buy one for a Teamer and see if it will work!!
