Topic: How to cope with sound files from different sources (vinyl vs cd)

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi Guys,

I do have a lot of trouble when mixing two soundfiles from different sources.

Also: I started to like more and more the sound of vinyl.

Could you guys give any hints about how you do when you wanna
mix in a .wav file from a vinyl source with one from a CD?

Also: I really like the vinyl sound more than the cd sound.
Is there any way to compress the cd sound, or any filter I can apply
to my cd wave files in Adobe Audition to let is sound 'warmer'?

Some explanation:
- All my CD's and Vinyls are recorded on my harddrive as .WAV files (44Khz).
- I record with Adobe Audition
- I do a little normalisation after recording my vinyls
- I do use Orhtofon Concorde cartridges

Thanks for all input on this subject

Hi Skyfxl,

I looked up the effects addon you proposed.
This one is adding vinyl noise to your music *grin*.

I'm not really into having more noise on my wave files.
I'd rather have my cd's sound like vinyl waves (spectral range and stuff like that, not noise).

Anny other suggestions? :-)
