Hi,
Thanks for your new version and for your efforts in making vdj the best!!!!
I've upgraded from 4.1 to 4.1r2 (on my home pc) and from 4.0 to 4.1r2 on my gig pc, and now I sometimes experience a cracky sound in the headphones only. In the previous 4.0 version, only on my home pc, The headphone audio became dirty after 30-50 mins, and the only workaround was to change a setting in the performance tab save and then revert.
Now, it seems that the sound is craccky on both the pcs, when not using an external audio card, otherwise the sound is clean, so it's not a big deal, 'cos at gig there is an external audio card.
Specs: home pc
Asus P5Ad2 premium
P4 3.4 HT
SBLive 5.1, CMedia (onboard)
2GB Ram + 3Gb swap
WinXpPro Sp2
hdd on raid 1
gig pc
Dell m1710
Core 2 Duo 2.16
Sigmatel audio card (on board), BCD2000 (lend by a friend, not used for these tests)
2Gb Rab + 2Gb swap
WinXpPro Sp2
7200 rpm hdd
Thanks,
Pier

sounds like you might be overtasking your cpu
best if u keep it on a lower proformance setting

OOOOps I forgot to say...
useless tasks were not running and this happens at every performance level with 4.1r2
usually I ran at least 3 vdj instances at maximum performance level, the issue occurs in one instance and lowest performances settings.
Thanks,
Pier

you run 3 x vdj at once?
on full quality
on full quality
Posted Tue 14 Nov 06 @ 11:31 pm
Yes, 3.4 full quality, running really without problems.
4.0 dirty buffer after 30-50 minutes on headphones only
4.1r2 cracks and pops on headphones only
I also remebered that on vdj 3.4 playing hard with eq faders worked fine, instead, on 4.1r2 (same quality, so perf low) you do hear pops when you play with them (this issue on 3 different pcs, with completely different hws)

Ok this is the perf tab in my home pc
max perf (I use 1024, as it's more reliable than 512)-> used for one instance only
min perf (used for three instances)
this is my gig pc (bcd not connected and not used)
this is for 3-4 vdj instances. Max==min
does it help?
[EDITED WAIT A MINUTE, I have uploaded the wrong pics]

try lowering the slider and changing the algerithems to basic
you might be overtasking your pc slightly
try lowering the proformance sliders
aslo do a full defrag of your drive
http://www.diskeeper.com/
using this the built in xp one is rubish
aslo go to device manager and check that there are no irq chanel conflicts
if your not sure take a screen shot of your devices and i can check for u :)
hope that helps

first pic is the top of performances. never used if i want to humanly work:->
however (as i told you before) even in the second picture, the headphones are craccky.
now i see if i can manage to record the pops (lucky as i am, they won't appear while recording:->)
however, Thanks for your efforts
