I downloaded and installed all my favorite sound effects for VDJ 4.0 and have them in my sound effects folder..but not all of them show up in my VDJ's effect browser. Why is this??

Because V4 has new structure of plugins folder, before was only one (for audio and video) and now there is 4 of them:
ControlDevice
SoundEffect (this is where your sound effects should be)
VideoEffect
VideoTransition
Check where is installer making your effects and put them all in SoundEffect folder. You can even make sub-folders in the same folder, if you wish.

Yes I know that. I have them all installed in my SoundEffects folder...and they still don't show up in my VDJ Sound effects. What else should I try doing to make them show up in the software?

You can try reinstalling VDJ and update Direct X but I never heard for the problem you have.
