Topic: Aspect Ratio?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey VJs:

Is there a way to control the aspect ratio? What I've found is that when I rip to VOB everything is fine, but my files are 200 to 300 MB. I'd like to use Xvid (.avi) but VDJ seems to ignore that these are 16:9 and plays them as 4:3. I'd like to rip at 16:9 because I can set my projector to play that ratio. However, I don't always use my projector and sometimes use the TVs in the club. When I play the .avi format in VLC and Windows Media Player. Also, after updating to Xvid 1.0.1, I can use the Media Player codec in VDJ. Yet, it too distorts the aspect. Any ideas?

I have a VirtualDJ video plugin to resize the video but it's still manual: height and width
I have to add a 16/9 , .... automatic mode to make the things easier

That sounds good. What I've done in the mean time is to change how I'm encoding. I'm still doing the .avi but encoding it twice. The first as always, and the second with a AviSynth script. This lets me manually adjust the aspect ratio to 4:3 and add black lines. I'm saving both files in the hope that someday I can delete the 4:3.
