I will play at a wedding, but not as a dj. I'm just responsible for the music and I would like to start the player and then leave to join the others at the party. Is that possible ? I want to create a playlist because I want to choose in which order the songs will be played too.

Is virtualdj capable of this or do I need to find another tool for this?

Yes, it is possible and called automix. Load some tracks in the playlist window (right side of the screen) and click on the button With the Star (Between the File list and the playlist window). For more info about other possible settings, search the forum on automix

And for auto play, I recommend enabling force fade and disable auto bpm. Then set the fade length to 2.4 sec. you will find this works a treat for weddings. Also, after you set your playlist in the right hand window, save it. that the third last round button. enjoy.

Ok. That sounds interesting..

How do I load a playlist ? Just for me to move all the songs into the right field and then press automix ?
Where do I change the fadelength ?

fadelength in options.
Many ways to load songs in playlist, or import a saved playlist.
