In fact, it's generally better for them to not be zipped (Hard disk space nowadays it not normally a problem, so zipping isn't really necessary.) I may have misunderstood this post, but I tried to insert a CDG disc into the CD player on my laptop, which I have used to convert CDG discs to zip files in the past, and VDJ-8 would play the audio portion of the track, but did not recognize the tracks as karaoke tracks so I didn't get any video. I know that people bring CDG discs to karaoke events-- so how do other KJ's play these discs, if they play them at all.

You will need to rip the CDs. VirtualDJ cant play CDG CDs.
