Topic: Is the turntable pre-amplifier necesarry?

I have question, if th turntable pre-amplifier is necesary for correct working of vdj with timecoded vinyls? I have American Audio HTD 4,5 turntables + Numark DMX 06 Mixer

Not necessary, but it depends a little of your cartridges. Some have a very low output signal (like stanton 500s) Then the signal to noise ratio is not that good, which could cause problems with heavy bass systems.
