Topic: help for audio card pcmcia vs usb 2.0?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi, I just bought a laptop for using with Virtual dj, but I found this laptop has a new interface
which is express card instead of pcmcia, i was thinking in buying a sound blaster pcmcia which is quite convenient since is so compact and easy to carry, but that would not fit.

I was thinking about return the laptop, but before that? would u recommend to adquire a usb 2 audio card? if so what is the best?

what is better an pcmcia audio card or a usb 2 audio card?

Thanks and regards

your not really gonna much more out of buying a new soundcard without buying the software....the headphones don't work with the demo

that don't answer my question.
I found a device which can help me, it is a extra audio output embedded in a look-like flash memory. so is very small and compact and is just 20 dls!!!

better is usb sound card. You can get more quality sound with usb because most high quality sound cards (external) are usb or firewire.

if u do get one such as a maya 44 one ul need pro :)

Thats compleatly untrue the better laptop sound cards are PCMCIA, for example the RME Mutliface with its card Bus or the Emu 1616m, or firewire 800 are close, USB2.0 cards use more processing power and the fidelity is negligble, the EM-U supports 192k sample rates at Full Duplex i dont know any USB 2.0 cards that support over 92k at fullduplex

I read at magazine about sound cards. (i can put photos in my blog if you want if you don't believe me). It wrote that the best sound cards (here i wrote the best, so for studio and so on with really high quality) are firewire and USB2.
Who care about processor these days when almost everybody has 2.5+ GHz???

Im not going to debate tat, but the magizine is wrong, USB2 cards are OK but their are not the best, Simply it depends what you need it for and how low a latency Value you want with out dropouts, I own a USB studio card (UCON CX) and its OK for prodction/Project studio stuff but i would'nt use for TCV when i have a PCMCIA card sitting next to it which out performs it, also the best for studio with really high quality has to be ProTools HD hardware ;)

well.. maybe the magazine is wrong. i just wrote what i read :)

i have maya44 usb and works without problems with TCVs. I never tryed pcmcia card. maybe usb devices are cheaper. i know that just for pcmcia to 2x usb was the price 200% higher than usb hub :D
